Thread regarding BB&T Corp. layoffs

To those waiting for a package

DON'T. stop waiting and leave. I did and found a great job and with the just increase in pay calculated it will take about 1 year to earn the entire layoff pkg. (I was there 12 yrs.) That doesn't take into account a possible promotion that would never happen if you stay.

Just GO. Get out and find something you are happier in, make more money in, etc. It's much harder to find a job when laid off than while employed.

I was a part of the Correspondent Lending Operations Group in Atlanta. They layed off my entire floor on 1/15 ( 3 teams, their managers and the Operations Manager). They kept the underwriters upstairs and layed off several in Wilson, NC and middle managers. It was unbelievable! Some of us have been a part of BB&T for 20-30 years. We always survived the RIFs in the past and were moved to Correspondent Lending in 2010. I was there over a decade and thrived and have many good and some bad memories. We made a lot of money for Servicing over the years, but having an office in Atlanta and Wilson, NC was just too much with the volume in mortgage registrations down. I'm not happy about it, but I know I have to move on. The severance package was done as promised and we don't have to work our 2 months notice. The road ahead for Correspondent Lending will be rough, the other office does not do the same exact thing or run like Atlanta.
