Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

March 08, 2017 Upcoming Layoffs

Hopefully you will not be impacted. In any case, please take the time to be fully prepared just in case.

Here are my Top 10!

1) Backup all your documents, contacts, calendar from your laptop and smartphone.

2) Remove any personal documents and photos and contacts and calendar entries off your NetApp laptop.

3) Send all important NetApp emails and email addresses to your personal email address to ensure you have continued access to them.

4) You cannot send emails to any "ng" from your personal email.

5) You will lose access to all NetApp data and tools on NetApp Support Site, Salesforce, SAP, Pulse, NAI, eBI. Make sure you capture and save to your backups any data, screen-shots, metrics, charts, lists, graphs, PDFs, PowerPoint data and presentations etc..while you still have access.

6) Your mobile phone number is yours, make sure you know how to transfer it to your personal mobile provider.

7) Review all your Stock Options, RSUs (Restricted Stock Units) and ESPP (Employee Stock Purchase Plan).

8) Use up all your comp time, HR and Payroll does not recognize comp time and you will lose it all.

9) Make sure you claim all your travel mileage, no matter how short your trip. You are classified as "remote worker" thus entitled to claim all your business travel, including your travel to and from the office, public transportation, parking, office expenses (printer paper, ink cartridges etc..).

10) Make sure you get any verbal arrangements or agreements you may have with your manager in writing asap.

Endured this in 2014, hooked up with a CDP... Then the new NTAP management machine dropped the CDP bench program (aka cDOT bench) so all the CDPs ran for cover like roaches and those of us who busted our asses and traveled for their bottom line were shown the door the second there was so much as a possibility of a non-billable second. I get the whole "Business isn't in business to NOT make money"... spare me the lesson. But for heaven's sake protect - just a little - those who work hard and sacrifice for you.

Now I'm a NetApp customer... never happier. There IS plenty of life after NetApp, my friends.

Bouncing back? More like scraping by... Huge layoffs and reduced expectations for growth don't excite many intelligent people. Senior management did what they needed to do to patch the hole in boat. Hanging your hopes for the future on an acquired company instead of internal innovation as also a less than inspiring scenario. Good luck to remaining employees but keep your eyes open.

There is no longer a planned layoff at NetApp on March 6 or 8. The plan was cancelled. Unlike our competitors, we are bouncing back and recovering. We take care of our people, but will continue to transform. Yes, we are hiring. EMC folks can seek employment elsewhere.

No cuts, George has sent notification to senior leadership. As for March 8th, it's actually the 6th which is the final day for impacts from November.

Get a life Zain.

Before you know it, the hierarchy will be like this...

Kurry man

Senior VP

VP

Senior Middle Manager

Middle Manager

Senior Manager

Manager

a few engineers

Why not use the knife in the center instead of cutting people who do the work. Cut the useless management in the middle. Oh wait they are the ones doing the cutting and will never cut themselves.

Easy to see the same person posting over and over again.

Don't worry folks, George K has already announced to senior leadership there will be no impacts this quarter.

And if it happens down the road, oh well it's a job and there plenty of them. If you say no, you don't have the skill set and that's the problem.

Amazing how down everyone is, EMC/Dell laying off, IBM crumbling, HPE is almost none existant. Nimble, Pure and Nutanix have their own problems with not even making a profit. I have seen more people jump to NetApp then any other storage system. Take your anger out on Amazon/Azure!

Well... this is old news given the fact that this company has gotten so good at laying people off. I'm amazed that you still have people defending this pile of poo. The time to jump has come and gone. Cdot is a dead end, the emperors clothes have been gone for a while. Stop worrying and get gone
