Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Kenmore Alfie

Has anyone seen how desperate SHC is getting to unload the failed Alfie project devices.

They are as of Sunday 2/5/2017 selling for $14.99 and you get $14.99 back in points making it free.

Buy two for $14.99 and use them as a nice paperweight or a hockey puck.

At $7.50 a piece these are cheaper than buying hockey pucks at the local sporting goods store.

I just got a laugh out of it. They make great paperweight presents.

What does everyone think?

The problem with it is that it can take up to 20 minutes to get a reply and it is just for shopping. No music, weather, sports, news. Not even close to Alexa or Google Home

I honestly had never even heard of these until this thread. That certainly says a great deal about how well they advertised them.

SHC thinking they could out-Amazon Amazon with this thing sounds about as herpaderp as when they thought Kmart stores could compete with Walmart pricing.

I was not trying to open up a can of worms and cause a fight on this thread.

I was just trying to show how a worthless piece of garbage the Alfie is.

Let's keep trying to sell something in a store that takes sales out of a store....and train a sales person how to sell something that is going to take sales out of the store they work in.

Require ME to take that training when I am on full commission and am not getting paid to take the training to sell something that would take sales away from me.

That almost seemed like a labor law suit to me.

I knew from day one that Alfie was doomed to fail, no doubt about it.

Our store hasn't sold a single Alfie. Last time I checked, the on hand counts never changed since they arrived. A couple were stolen thanks to our valued shoplifters. I wondered why they would steal one? Maybe it was on a "just because" basis...

I wonder how much SHLD spent on the Alfie project...the infrastructure, the devices themselves, the software, the staff...there's probably a handful of active users, most of which are probably SHLD loyalist types that work at headquarters that will buy into any SYW/Integrated Retailer propaganda.

What is funny about this it costs the same amount as a nice paperweight from a big box store.

The problem with the Alfie is that you have to sign up for SYW to use it. Most people hate that information grab. Oh, and the thing is a piece of .... Whatever happened to the Kenmore TV's?

Alfie is 9.99 on Sears dot com right now with $11.48 back in points. Some of those points might be from my associate non-discount. First and last I'd really heard of Alfie was during a Segno training. Although the website tells me that it's in stock today at the Sears where I work. Go figure.

I have 8 total all free after points. Hey, they might be worth something on ebay if SHC goes out of business.

Alfie, will not even pair properly with your smart phone. It is nothing more than a paperweight with a light on it.

If I am correct they sold for $50 at the beginning. Now they are being sold for 70% off at $15 now. I wonder what the actual cost was to make these devices in china? Does anyone know the actual cost of them not the retail? I wonder if SHC is loosing money selling these for $15ea?

This device was the ultimate symbol of SearsMarts stupidity.

Unless you have your head buried in the sand, you know the Kenmore name is synonymous with utter crap. Just like the Craftsman and Diehard names have become.

No one buys from SearsMart. See: Sales numbers.

Why would anyone BUY a device that doesn't do anything but buy from SearsMart.

The technology was even stupid, as one should expect from SearsMart. Amazon's dot is fully automated. This was essentially an IP phone line to a call center. Sears was stupid enough to brag about this being a feature.

What I would like to know is...who green lights a project like this...and what do THEY get paid...meanwhile, we are trying to put out fires hourly, and this douche makes $$$ ...all about priorities, right Eddie?

Consultive refuses to sell something that will take commission and replace them. Guess how many we have sold? That's right zero. Guess how many echo dots we have led people to buy on Amazon for the same msrp and every feature that Alfie lacks?
