Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

SLB still outperforming its competitors - Paal is a genius and a winner!

We still number 1 and Paal is the number 1 CEO in the industry performance wise. You can't criticize a winner!

Mr Sausage Licker, with your ignorance you must be in Wireline, if you think transformation will work for SLB then you are deluded. How do you think the same thing can work for services driven segments (WL, WS, & D&M) the same way as for product driven segments (CPS, AL) they can't, this is why transformation will never work 100% as no one is willing to build it to suit the segment, it's a one fits all.

Oh and you mention upper management only come from prestigious well known universities ? Well bet you never heard of the University of Cardiff before realising that is where Andrew Gould went too ?? The only man in recent time that when he talked the whole industry stopped and listened, now with PK they are just wondering what that ramble in the background is.

SDR and SETC are the proofs that the transformation is not working.

Paal's transformation strategy will be taught in the worlds best business schools like Harvard for years to come. How one man and his transformation strategy turned SLB into the worlds most efficient oilfield service company in the middle of the biggest downturn the industry has ever seen.

Paal is being compared to Jack welch of GE fame in the corporate corridors of power which is quite an accolade. Rumor is he is writing a book about his time transforming SLB.........I wonder what it will be called? any guesses?

Yep, they will be teaching Paal's transformation strategy in business schools like Harvard and Oxford for years to come. He is like the Jack Welch of the oilfield business.

Rumor is he is writing his memoirs and a book could be coming out.....I wonder hat he will call it?

5 is just corporate speak for cutting jobs but gotta hand it to Paal he is delivering the numbers keeping big blue the # 1 in the industry. I wouldn't be surprised if we see all the other oilfield companies coming up with their own transformation strategies if they haven't already done so.

Paal is leading the way with some real cutting edge ideas that you don't get from your average oilfield CEO. There is a good reason he got the top job in Schumberger........its because he is good and some would say a real leader. Call me a sausage licker but I say it as it is.

You guys deserve Paal! Stay on work hard to pay for his bonus. I've seen some emails sent out by hal CEO from a friend working there, at least the CEO has a little humanity for his employees.

Number 1 is very true as we are being asked to do more with less except Paal who is still getting his big bonus and doing less with more. Personally, I have had enough and secured a new job with Halliburton as I cant stand the transformation. Its driving me crazy and a total waste of time but still I am being pushed to report numbers showing that it works abut it doesnt!!!

Tha transformation principals are whats keeping Schlumberger ahead of the pack. They are:

  1. Do more (much more) with less.

  2. Leverage our size, global footprint and strength

  3. Develop a multi skilling capability and cut out the fat

  4. Do it right first time - get your workflows working

  5. Integrate, integrate and integrate

  6. Enage to excel

  7. Shrink and grow.......... you know it makes sense

  8. Cut the low performers and the over paid

  9. Kill the competition

We are the most profitable company in the industry and have the highest quality management team with business degrees from some of the best universities in the world. We only recruit the best from the best schools which makes us the best in the oilfield business. This why we deliver. If you come from a second rate university dont expect to get a senior job in Schlumberger

Post ID: @1fbq+LGcji3n

From where Im sitting we are losing tenders to our competition and we don't even have the experienced people to pu a competitive tender together. We aren't even getting close and usually end up 3rd or getting disqualified. If thats outperforming then one wonders how we haven't went bankrupt but hey Im not complaining as long as i get my money every month. As regards the transformation - hahahah.....nobody takes thats seriously. Its a total joke and costs more money and time than it saves by far. Thing is the upper management tell Paal that its working because if they don't then they are the next ones to be laid off

Yep, for all the negativity here we are still the best performing oilfield company on the planet. Well done Paal. The transformation was a TRULY masterful strategic move propelling us light years ahead of our competitors. You can't argue with our financial results. We play to win always.

I am sure if we lost a contract to Halliburton the people responsible will be fired. Clearly they have not grasped the transformation principles and are not Schlumberger material. We need winners like Paal to ensure we stay the #1 company in the industry.

It's tough to be the best all the time but we must stick to the transformation principals. Believe and apply them and you will prosper in the company.

May the blue force be with you

Employees' hatred and frustration due to SLB management are not the cause of the lost contract. Maybe the illusion of "best run company" and useless management are the cause.

Are you serious?? We just lost Chevron in GoM to Halliburton...every rig had MI Swaco, MWD and GeoServices. We cannot be the "best run company in the world" if people hate themselves for working here, they provide a sh--ty yet expensive service and we end up losing clients...
