Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

What's going on in Alaska's exploration org?

Lot of changes in the last few weeks. Did our leader really retire, or were they pushed out? Why did someone who was only in her job a few weeks just get pulled into a management role?

I expressed interest in the job and was told there was already a candidate for AK exploration who was seen as chosen. So, I guess qualifications and temperament count for nothing. I just have the wrong accent?

So why is it that over half of the recent announcements for management jobs are brits?! Head of Ak Expl, Head of External Affairs, Head of S&PM. Seems like MF and his merry EVP men are just promoting their own people . If you haven't done a stint in UK then you apparently cannot do the job anywhere's. Sure sounds like Nepotism.

AK fiscal situation is bad news. Expect state taxes and royalties to be raised to the point where nothing has any material profitability. AK assets should be sold off while profitability is good enough that a buyer may come forward. The company should not make material new investments in AK without clear assurances on taxes and royalty. Pipeline tariff is also high

ConocoPhillips will fail because of its culture ... percormance is not relevant in this organisation, only where you were born and who your parebts were. Discuss ...

A Brit who works for another Brit just promoted a third Brit into the AK exploration Manager job. Guess you have to be from a tiny island off the coast of europe in order to be seriously considered for such a role.

Good luck exploring in Alaska.....with all the awesome GOM flunkies that got moved up there we should get some serious results in 10 years after we spend a few billion and contract some top end rigs. How long did it take us to get the balls to drill the Willow prospect.

Also how the f did we miss a 10 billion barrel field? I am sure someone at COP can explain that? Props to Caelus Energy and all the true independent explorers in the world for continually finding oil under COP's nose.

Nevermind. I know there's a lot of planning and thought that goes into these things at COP. I answered my own question.
