Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Why did we spend $14 million dollars today to buy 3 more years of RD's "Flash & Burn" charade??

With today's grant of 773,000 stock options and 95,000 restricted shares, Mattel will pay RD an extra bonus of $14 million (beyond his annual base salary, bonuses and stock grants) if the stock price simply gets back to the $38.50 level it was two and a half years ago on May 19, 2014...oh yeah, that's the day RD returned to Mattel. Give RD $14 million just to get the stock price back to where it was when he came back to rescue Mattel?? Mattel's performance and stock price during 2015 and 2016 occurred under his leadership and strategic direction. Just like RD's first stint here, the Flash lasts one year, and the Burn smolders on and on. And we just spent $14MM to get him to stay 3 more years? Maybe the board thinks the new lady from Google needs RD to teach her the toy business. Wow. CS must be insane.

why you should ask is that even when there are supposedly no bonuses do execs still get high dollar payouts? this is no secret to anyone... watch who gets a new car in a couple of months

is it because their leadership brought you to these results? is the board afraid that they'll bolt?

why you should ask yourself that when financial goals are not met that the ones with the least are made to sacrifice? and you are supposed to smile and say thank you for my discretionary bonus? like you're getting a favor. ok so you were led by the exec teams to this stupid result so we'll give them great bonuses and you should be thankful we gave you anything at all. because we want them to encourage them to try to fail again... apparently

That amount is just obscene when everyone is asked to tighten their belts. There's just a basic immorality to that given all the people they let go to achieve some of that. But that's pretty much capitalism.

With all the talk of the last 2 years from RG (HR head) about accountability, why isn't he and the entire management team INSTANTLY fired when they missed the number? It falls to them to be accountable to lead teams to meet their obligations and if they don't, they get tossed.

So, Rich - where' the accountability, buddy? You opened your big mouth 2 years ago about it, so time to put up or shut up. You should voluntarily resign because of your part in this. I dare you to be a man about it.

Those who do not get the bonus - will be gone next round of layoffs. Good Lord what a disaster this place has come. Maybe hair weave had it right - time to hit the bottle.

The whole thing is a gong show. And only "discretionary bonuses" for all the cubicle dwellers. This place is so bloated and ineffective at the top it's a joke. Time to move on.
