Being backed into a corner describes the average employee's ability to control his or her career. If you're lucky enough to be viewed favorably you have some control. If you're not perceived to be high potential your performance rating, bext job, etc, is all determined for you.

I'm just hoping that folks would have the balls to leave if they hate it so much and I'm calling them out on being sideliners who will stick around no matter what because they don't have what it takes to defend themselves and vote with the jobs they accept. Take it lying down, and they'll keep giving it to you and only pause to switch positions every few years.
