Team leader is a UT graduate too. In the last ROM, none in that group were let go...

I have spent 4 yrs at ETC and 9 in BU's, a lot of ETC folk would definitely benefit from a BU assignment and most would love to have one (or more) specially with the expat enticement.
At the same time BU managers need to realize that ETC guys may not have the right background (including probably being foreign and uninterested in LSU football), but they don't exactly give away PHD's at Minnesota or UT.
Mwb- " Unfortunately that is not the case which is why the BU's only use ETC resources when they are required to. Pitiful business model" more like forced to use ETC so they can prove their "worth"
Most ETC young ones are PhDs who would sink in an operating environment but can swim in the R&D environment. Whilst they can add value in the high tech aspects, a little dirt under their nails would be a good thing to understand both the context of their work and the customer to whom they're delivering. Understanding the science is one thing, understanding the practical application is another. Spent a while at ETC so know the value of proper, relevant, targeted technology.
Yes, mwb. It's a pitiful and piss poor business model that Chevron has in ETC. At which level in the Chevron organization below that of the top executives in San Ramon does Chevron begin to lose accountability in its management structure? I've been convinced for years that half of our BU and work group management staff are qualified to lead and make sound decisions, and by saying "half", I'm being generous.
No one with 10 years of experience would want to work in etc
This is daddy Watson checking in on the babies in ETC. Sounds about time for a nap. Any butthurt managers need to be burped? Did someone p--py?
Sounds like some butthurt manager didn't get their way in the upcoming layoffs
Isn't ETC supposed to be Chevron's Center of Excellence? What are recent grads doing in ETC? These grads should be busting their hump in a BU somewhere and gaining world-class experience. Only after proving exemplary skills and experience should they be allowed to be part of ETC and justify the exorbitant costs they demand on our BU projects. Christ, another example of mismanagement or resources. Mr. Watson, are you reading this??
Diversity? You can count the whites on one hand.
Hmmm maybe because they tend to be one of the most billable teams in RPE? Corollary?
Wrrooong, @sqy. It's obvious. The group supervisor is himself a UT graduate. It's a clique and nothing more.
No idea... maybe because they add value?
