Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Transferability of credits

I know that University of Phoenix is HLC accredited, but it doesn't look like credits transfer to more legitimate schools. I typed in UoPX business courses, and got no matches. Does anyone ask if credits will transfer? And if they do, how do you respond.

Camden has a degree from UNLV, and UNLV accepts UOPXs credits. Congrats Camden, your degree is as valued as a UOPX degree!

It depends on the school being asked to accept the credits and the degree program. In almost all cases only undergraduate degree credits can transfer not master level course credits. Credits will be transferred only if the UOPX courses apply to the degree being sought at the new institution. The new institution will not apply a lower level course for a higher level. For example, and a 100 level course will not be accepted if the new institution has the contents of the 100 level UOPX course covered in a 200 level course. Courses with grades less than a "C" generally do not transfer.

Perhaps this generalized response helps, but it is important to share the UOPX transcript with the new institution to make sure you know what will transfer. Other for profit institutions will be more willing to accept transfer credits.

I took 24, 18 of which transferred to Arizona State. So not a complete loss.
