Thread regarding Aetna Inc. layoffs

Aetna Layoffs 2017

I know that my opinion does not matter much, but I can tell you that our executives are way too greedy and that is putting us all in danger here in Hartford.

you think that's bad?? try this new guy heading up marketing & analytics under the Caesar's Palace guy - not even 40 years old and an EVP - he skips all of his meetings, fires people in 2 min conversations, and still has beer keg pics on his Facebook - I guess it helps to go to school with the boss' daughters - he won't do any work and will see a huge payday....

Aetna doing its regular cleaning house - if you're a C-level exec with no payer experience, you're counting your bonuses and anticipating how much money you're going to make from CVS buying the company while planning your next move - For example, the 2nd top MD exec spends more time travelling to the West Coast and interviewing at other insurers than actually doing any work, and he's thrilled that his options are going to mature without any actual effort on his part. If you're not an exec, but have been here for decades, it doesn't matter - you're getting passed over or pushed out with packages or laid off.

Aetna is ruthless and does not care about their employees. The only way your position is safe is if you are related to another employee or you were in the military. The health insurance is cheap but it has a high out of pocket maximum. Hopefully CVS will house clean and get rid of useless employees and management.

WHY take a pay cut??? we are already asked to do FAR MORE than what the job pays! Stop outsourcing our jobs overseas, bring jobs back here. ALLOW folks to work from home. bottom line, management does NOT care about anyone but them selves and THEIR pay, how about managers and upper management take a pay cut

No real incentive to do a good job, when layoffs are always possible. I worked there for seventeen years. The final year I was working 60-65 hour weeks, and got cut anyway. Upper management are brutal and untrustworthy. Find a nice small company to work for.

Your opinion matters and does impact Aetna's ability to attract and retain employees. Aetna competes against its competitors to attract and retain talent. Good luck to Aetna as the employee pool gets smaller.

Employees are used like Kleenex tissue....or even toilet paper. Aetna only cares about kissing investors' butts so their execs will get their bonuses.

Middle management is clueless. Total lack of respect for employees. Constant threats leveled by supervisors. Run away as fast as you can from this shell of a company

Aetna is providing health insurance to American workers and outsourcing its jobs to other countries? How can this be?

They our outsourcing many positions to India! Already found another job, only a few more weeks at Aetna. Worked @ CVTY - was wonderful until AET bought CVTY. Benefits are hideous, and the corporate culture is doubly hideous. Do what I say, not what I do...lower management is fine, the upper mgmt, welcome to the shark tank, complete with golden parachutes - not looking out for anyone but themselves and their high lifestyle. Folks wonder why Trump won - more jobs outsourced!

When a lot of very experienced co-workers who were customer service representatives were being fired for so called low performance, I knew something was up. Not long after, the Humana acquisition was announced - a sure sign layoffs were coming. Everyone needs to understand that this happens with all corporate America; not just Aetna. Trimming the fat and outsourcing is waht is done every 8 to 10 years. Right now the company is struggling to keep the customer service phones manned to handle the increasing call volume and won't be hiring any new phone reps in America until the Humana acquisition is completed. For now, Aetna has been staffing up with folks from Colombia and more will be happening in the near future.

Problem is... American workers cost too much in more ways than one would think. If we're willing to take pay cuts and pay more for medical insurance, perhaps American jobs can be saved.
