Avis Budget Layoffs 2017

I need (and you need) to better understand if job cuts and layoffs will be happening this year in Parsippany.

Layoffs are continuing and no public announcement about it. The only safe ones are those with relatives in the organization.

Well at my location, yes they offered packages ridiculous amounts, then when people accepted they postponed the payout until December, so they could use these people through the busy summer months! No repairs being done in the restrooms or fothat matter on the lot at lot at all, big pot holes everywhere!

About one and a half years ago Avis Budget hired KPMG Consulting to break down positions as to which "functions" their jobs were. I knew something was up. We, both Parsippany and Virginia Beach VA were told that all of us were not going to be kept and that all position titles would change because we would be defined by what our "functions" were. This would also allow a renegotiation of salary between Avis and which employees would be kept. In addition, one month ago, all employees that had 20 years or more were asked to consider Volunatary Resignation with a financial sweetener. If enough employees did not accept, Avis would simply go down the list and cull down to what they needed; with no sweetener. I got out and thankfully got another job with another company. I have also been told that the people who will be left will have jobs until all of the "function" issues were worked out. The jobs need to be functioned so that highly skilled will not be needed. They will break these positions down so that virtually anyone will be able to walk in and do these job-functions. At that point the Avis employees left will either be fired and then hired by a third party (such as lets say Accenture), or simply let go and the third party will put in their own employees. Sadly, this is the wave of the future, I said as much as I could to my coworkers and wish them only the best. Many of them truly believe that they will be spared.

There is no loyalty with this company anymore. The senior leadership is cutting the essential folks from their back office, only to work those that are left into the ground, expecting the same results with no staff or support from the leaders. Cut one or two of the executive positions and you could save upwards of $10m.
