Rockwell Collins in Irvine, California laid off 50+ employees about a month ago. Upper management made a decision to cancel their PAVES On-demand In-Flight Entertainment products effective immediately. The news to cancel this product was not much of a surprise as PAVES has failed to meet RC annual sales goal for the last couple of years.
The post of Rockwell Collins outsourcing 60 plus union custodial jobs is, unfortunately a fact. I would say that it may be the beginning of a bad situation for most bargaining unit employees at the Cedar Rapids location.
Rockwell Collins is currently laying off personnel, outsourcing all of the janitorial staff, and cutting staff. As of right now they have not officially announced the cuts because they are not done with the cuts.
I believe the current cuts are inline with the company trying to buy another company for $8.2 billion.
Looks like this same turd is posting "rumors" of layoffs on all the major defense contractor forums on thelayoff.com. I became suspicious because each of the major contractor forums I visited included a very similar post mentioning layoffs at the corporate HQ city...
