Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Don't get too comfortable

For all those who survived this round, don't get too comfortable. I heard from a high up at NTAP that another round is in the works for Jan., 2017.

NTAP can't grow its top line and it is declining. Thus, time to cut costs again!

Glad I am out of that dumpster fire.

NetApp is the worst of the worst and is currently like a clogged toilet waiting to be plunged. Yes, people are being laid off, but not for the right reasons. Some real douche canoes in leadership have somehow survived and they are running the place into the ground. Awesome managers have walked away from management back into sales, but are selling very little. Those left behind are collecting a check, but doing very little people management. The place became more self-managed than anything. Anyone purchasing their gear is ignorant to say the least. Far better technologies from better companies exist at cheaper prices. NetApp never comes in first place on an RFP and never will. If you are looking at purchasing NetApp, you're a f---ing fool.

Whom ever is left, don't stress it, the package is pretty good, I got max severance, 12 weeks. Plus insurance, and the obligatory 2 months, 60 days pay. Since they do not file as required by WARN act.

Let go on Thursday, signed offer letter on Monday. Got my first call and offer 4 hours after being let go.

Plus 65k bump in compensation. Believe it or not, NTAP skills are in demand. So there is a better life after NTAP, although I will greatly miss, the people that became family during my decade plus working there. The company has changed, being run by accountants, and the people are paying for the sins of the horrible management, over the past years.

@uqg seems to be under the misguided impression the company owes it to you to tell you in advance. The only people the company owes anything to is shareholders who are paying the bills and they don't even get a head's up. If you don't like the paycheck - hasta la vista.

@-zlm Are you a NetApp executive or middle manager that's upset your people have a place to go find out what the company refuses to tell them?

Rumors to induce more unrest in the masses. Doesn't really help the company move forward. What is the point of the churn on this site? I'm fascinated by the psycho/sociological aspects. I'm wondering why you stay and just ruminate on the bad news. Maybe you get some sick sense of satisfaction that you are causing others anxiety? Maybe it's that this is your new reality TV channel - hooked on the drama of a potential train wreck.

Hears the same although January will be very targeted. March will be broader depending on q3 company performance.
