Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Wise up people!

Having been impacted in March after more than a decade at the company. I know how hard it can be and I feel those of you who are going through it now. I really do.

However enterprise storage is no longer a growth market and may never be again no matter what the kool aid says. Just think, what do you really think the state of the market will in another 10 or 15 years time? How many more rounds of redundancies do want to put yourself through? And how hard will it be to find another job then?

Personally I was lucky enough be able to put my experience to work and find another job quickly. So my advise to you all is think about your next move, skill up for it as soon as possible (cheap online courses are very affordable), and hit each and every one of your LinkedIn contacts for opportunities.

Good luck. There is life after NetApp.

I'm sorry to hear this is happening again. My thoughts are with all of you, even the ones who keep their jobs. Layoffs are stressful and icky.

But... Embrace change. Getting the axe from Netapp in 2015 was the best thing that has happened to my career in a decade. You'll be much happier elsewhere.

I was impacted in march 2016 too. I, too, was a 10 yr employee.

I had seen the writing on the wall and ramped up my skill set.

I had a job in a few weeks making 30% more and lots of perks.

Enjoy the break between jobs, it goes fast.
