I will not work on Thanksgiving. Black Friday with our registers that belong in a museum are a recipe for disaster. Fire me. I will not be @Kmart on Thanksgiving! sling it where the sun don't shine to you and yours. I haven't gotten a raise in many years. So, when I leave it will be this year, now, so what? does Kmart care? No, not at all. Happy Holidays to you and yours! and goodbye.

Bigfoot, will the company make it through the holiday season or do I need to find a new job faster?
I work at corporate. Good for you! The company is closing. He has no cash to keep it running. Start looking for another job now.
Even though you don't believe in God, he still believes in you. Our refusal to accept truth as truth does not change the fact that it is truth.
It really doesn't matter. We're all losing our jobs and the country is going to hell regardless who is in the White House.
@2fas, I agree cut the politcal crap out. The election should NOT be discussed on this board at all.
Unless it pertaines to the political garbage and other BS @ SHC.
SHC politics are ok to talk about since it ties into work.
I'm really not interested in seeing some political agenda on here (I see enough of that everywhere else). Let's just talk about the company please, no rants on other topics. Thanks
What does God have to do with Thanksgiving? It is just another made up retail holiday. It is pretty close to DeBeers Diamonds and two months salary wasted on compressed carbon for a marriage proposal for the mid 1920's. Jesus was not born on Dec 25. All that was, along with Christmas trees, was a nod to the Nordic pagans. Black Friday? Come on!!! The election?
It is all fake. The fact that the purchasing power of the dollar is and has been decreasing for over 40 years is not fake. The fact that you were promised retirement and you won't get it is not fake. The fact that you paid into social security and will never see a dime if you are under 50 is not fake. Medicare? Who is going to pay for all of that? Hillary? How so? Take note of the UST Bond markets.
Need I go on?
"I'm really tied of reading posts that say I'm going to quit or I'm done."
I mean:
I'm tired of reading posts where people state they're tired of reading posts.
"I'm really tied of reading posts that say I'm going to quit or I'm done."
I'm tired of people reading posts and stating they're tired of reading posts.
How about we let God decide which prayers He chooses to hear and what He thinks is trivial or not. I hate when people answer for God and tell others what God thinks and what God wants. Geesh.
If SHC does not make it worth your while to work holidays, then you should go ahead and quit. The only reason this wretched company has even survived is because employees give than they get in return. I can't figure out how SHC keeps employees, at least, in my part of the country. Far better employers are begging for help. Just yesterday I saw a poster in Hobby Lobby: :$15 an hour starting pay with benefits. The stores are closed Sundays and holidays. Help wanted signs are up everywhere. In many cases working for SHC is just a bad habit. Nothing will ever get better if people are willing to just sit around and put up with their crap.
I think God expects you to deal with your own issues. Praying for your store is about the same as praying for your football team to win; it trivializes prayer.
You don't owe SHC anything, clearly they don't think they owe YOU anything. Unless you are making $70K a year (and I'm pretty sure no one on this board does), there are tons of jobs out there that will be way better for you.
To the OP, I agree. My hours have been cut terribly and I did find another part time job in March which pays more and gives more hours and I will not be working the holidays at my other job as they have banker's hours. We made a family decision in August that I would not work the holidays even if it meant quitting Sears. I know after the holidays Sears will cut hours to as little as 3 per week for some people and average about 10 hours per week for others. I will not be used by Sears through the holidays. For the small amount of money it will not be worth my children's memories of their mom having to work a minimum wage job on Thanksgiving. I realize my last day could be any day now depending upon the schedule. I did not have to work Halloween and was able to take my kids trick-or-treating. I will not work Thanksgiving or Christmas Eve either. And damned be the blackout period, if I have a party or something to go to I will take off as well. If my schedule works out then fine however, if they give me an ultimatum then I am fully prepared to quit with the support of my family. THIS MOM... will be having Thanksgiving at home with her family and extended family. I wish all the Sears and Kmart employees a very blessed Thanksgiving and Holiday Season. For those who have to work, I'm very sorry and support you by not shopping on holidays.
I'm really tied of reading posts that say I'm going to quit or I'm done. Just go to work and do your job, if you are unhappy with your work, look for something else. NO one is forcing you to come everyday or to work for this company. Put your resume out there, apply, follow up, interview, FIND a NEW JOB! Believe me there are plenty of crappy retail jobs out there. Go flip burgers, you might even make more money.
This i a reminder there is no god
Think twice before you do quit. I have worked at Sears for 18 years, and it has been 8 years since I had a pay raise. Ask God to help your deal with your job, some kind of job is better than no job. Pray for your store and you, and Mr. Lampert. God Bless You and Your Family.
