Be very careful with the geologists in the EF. There is one in particular who will steal your ideas, whisper behind your back to management and will throw you under the bus to save their own skin. To your face, they smile and pretend to be your friend, as long as they climb all over someones else's back to save their own worthless a--.

I expect after all the layoffs this has only become worse.
This is ubiquitous. About half the people in every BU have this mindset, especially the "millenials." It's a dog-eat-dog world.
Never wirked in EF, but have seen it in every BU I've worked in. Basically, you have to hide everything your results until you can get it in a PowerPoint and present it. Either that or play the game: point out the obvious in big meetings, ask stupid questions. Talk loudly, be obnoxious. The managers fall for this crap, so if you want your rating, prepare to drop your integrity and act in this manner.
Plagiarism and backstabbing were rampant in EF. It didn't matter how smart you were, how hard you worked, or how easy you were to work with, it was all about being the most vocal and the most pompous. Having a pe--s asking irrelevant questions in an attempt to discredit presenters, and claiming other people's work as your own were all great ways to keep your job in EF.
Regarding the culture bread. Is that rye? Wheat? White?
After working there a while and now being gone, I would say 50% of them are like this. Bad thing is that the management doesn't do anything. Mainly because that is who they are and how they got there. Culture breads culture.
It's who you know not competence, evidenced by some who are left
That sounds like most of the people in the Vietnam office when I worked there. Never seen Expats act like that before. I was so happy to leave......
Its all about trying for that 1 rating and staying relevant.
That happens all over the company! Unethical people in an unethical house (company). At some point, the house will fall!
