Such thing as LR "immunity"?

I've heard that ppl who got LR'd but got rehired before termination date can't be LR'd again within a certain timeframe. Anyone know anything aboot this?

@KOWnAvD-1hwq For a general LR, yes......that's always the case. However, the question was focused on the "double jeopardy" situation (get LR'd, find another internal job, but then LR'd again.....there is some hidden rule against getting LR'd twice in a certain time period).

Depends on the market and one's circumstances, doesn't it?

If you got LR'd, but found a job within the 30 day window.....you are immune from another LR for a certain period of time. Doesn't make sense, but nothing does at Cisco right now.

@1gha, nothing to be amazed. Most of the SVP, senior directors, directors in CSG had received two promotions in the past two years. Some can't even speak English well. Nepotism is what it counts. All you need is to be an indian and have some personal ties. What you know and how much you have achieved are irrelevant. They even hired their friend to be a director but only to fill up a 2nd line management position. The new hire is an idiot. We clearly see that he is struggling, so does the product quality.

I left Cisco long time back. But Cisco friends do gossip about what's going on there. I heard that one of the VP in data center who was handling catalyst before is responsible for firing good caliber engineers and push his useless people ahead. interesting thing is he promoted a guy who merely can be TL and because of him he just became distinguished engineer. Very interesting!!!

I think it is one year and you DO NOT get the severance

Well, if you take another job within Cisco, you weren't really LR'd so you shouldn't get the severance. But if you're only safe for a year, then you're not really safe. Most teams get hit once a year, not multiple times so you're no better off than those who didn't get hit this round.

Why bother looking internally? Take the $ and go. Wait 6 months and watch for openings if you want to go back. I did that after the '11 WFR and now got hit by the '16 LR bus. Not doing it a third time. Each year, the packages get smaller and Cisco becomes less transparent about what the packages are.
