Chapter 7 bankruptcy

Has anyone considered or filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the past? With me being unemployed for 6 months now and unable to pay all my creditors, I am considering it.

Every time an employer sees the degree on my resume, i feel like I am laughed at. How much does bankruptcy cost and what are options for people like me who don't have too much money?

OP - coming here for legal/financial advice is a little sketchy. I hope you go to the doc when you are sick, and not to this site for input. Make an appointment with a bankruptcy attorney who offers a free consultation. Ask him/her to detail the pros and cons of bankruptcy in the context of your specific scenario. Do some research on your own of the benefits/consequences of bankruptcy in your state (this site and other chat boards do not qualify as "research"). Use this board possibly for recommendations on which professional to consult, not for professional advise. Good luck.

I have never listed that my degree is from there. I've never been asked about it either, if they ask I'll be honest but I certainly don't like to advertise it. Fortunately I didn't work there for that long so I don't think it's hurt my resume like I've seen others mention. After UOP I did get another job making a lot more money! People don't think it's possible, but it really is. I wish you luck, hang in there.
