Thread regarding Lenovo layoffs

2017 Layoffs at Lenovo

The server market is down big time, 7% down YoY and this will affect everyone. Intel is hurting, Dell is laying off, all big guys are cutting big time and Lenovo will be affected as well. Add to this chronically weak IBM and HP/HPE and you have a fairly bad situation as it relates to enterprise server market.

Let's see what 2017 brings, it'll be a bad year based on all things I see right now.

This company is in deep trouble. They'll limp along but that's all they'll do.

Well I got hit with a "resource action" notice at Lenovo this morning 9/28, so it's happening, unless i am the only one.

A layoff in April would follow their pattern. If they keep it to a 100 or so, do it twice a year, they escape reporting requirements. The higher salary, longer tenure jobs will be in focus and the jobs will be moved to China, just like happened so many times before.

I work at Lenovo and haven't heard anything yet. I would not be surprised if we had layoffs before April.
