Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The Insanity of SHC.

We just keep doing the same thing over and over and over again

The only thing changing is the depth of the hole we are in

Keep digging and digging

Maybe eventually we will come out on the other side

Can't anyone see it's perpetual suicide

Keep digging and digging

Our limbs are being torn off and sold as spare parts

Raped and ravaged will it ever end

Eddie, put us out of our misery my friend.

@1yyi--completely spot on. It boggles the mind that anyone could think he had any intention of getting Sears/Kmart to be viable as retailers. No effort was ever made to do that.

I wish I could post back to you. You write so much like a friend of mine in the late 60's, I almost feel I know you. I am 58 yrs old and have been @ Kmart many years. Maybe not much longer

Eddie doesn't care about the stores. They are just there to provide cover while he wheels and deals away the real estate and assets. He NEVER had an intention of being a retailer. He bought Kmart and Sears to sell off for parts. mainly the real estate but the real estate market crashed before he could sell it off so he keeps the stores limping along until he get at least some money out of the deal. NEVER forget that he is a hedge fund guy first and foremost, NOT a company CEO.

There is not much to buy in the little girls section 4-6x. or 2t-4t. Inventory is low. No improvements to my store in Oklahoma. It still looks the same over 18 yrs, a little change in the paint color, minor improvements, but no real difference to the store. Still looks outdated as usual.

Dark poetry there. And entirely true. I've been trying to figure out this corporate blindness for many years. Couldn't they at least try some sane approaches in a few stores to see if it would be profitable? How about paying employees a halfway decent wage to see if they would stay around? What about some incentives for profitable sales? Maybe fix up and stock a few stores to see if this would improve the "experience" for customers? But no all they do is continue down the suicidal path of cutting costs and inventory across the entire company. Insanity is the only word for this.
