Good luck folks. The lucky ones are the ones getting packages.

Hi Guys,

I worked at NetApp for 2 years. Was one of the first co-ops hired from the Wake Tech/NetApp collaboration. Did very well and received good praise of my work the whole time. Didn't matter though. Cut in the March 2016 RIF. The smartest thing I did was that I immediately started applying to jobs the same day Kurian's email came out about the 12% cuts (the actual RIF came ~6 weeks later). <4 weeks after being cut, I had a decent job. While it wasn't true at the time, I'm now very glad I left NetApp. Don't despair. You should have already done it, but polish that resume, hit LinkedIn, Glassdoor and every recruiter you ever worked with (that's how I got my current position). Connect with every person you know in other companies. This all works. Sooner or later, you get that hit that leads to the next job.

The comment that was left was spot on... Especially the additional reply!

Heard from a really solid source that Thursday, Nov 3 is the day. It is really sad that we are now doing this twice this year. Once every spring for four years straight was bad enough. Sadly much of this could be avoided if we managed and organized ourselves better. We have some good people and good products - we should be flourishing. Unfortunately, we have poor processes and tools and lots of inefficiency and duplication. And in some cases we have very weak leadership. All of this, plus the constant layoffs, is driving out some of our best people. And heaping more and more work on fewer and fewer people is not going to work forever. We talk about trimming the portfolio but we never really do - there always seems to be a net add of work for whoever is left. Anyway, good luck to you all my NetApp brothers and sisters. To those of you who are the true movers of the company, it has been an honor.

Look at Directors calendar for today at 8AM PST. Everyone I've looked up has this time blocked until 8:45AM. Coincidence? 😕

I remember Tom Mendoza saying NetApp needed to hire younger people at an All hands meeting back when Georgens was CEO a couple of years ago and sitting there thinking you're right Tom and they should start with you because I'm pretty tired of hearing your BS Top of the Mind finale at these meetings because your material is old and stale.

Big salaries watch out! There is a mandate to hire millenials. Straight from college or a couple years out. Much lower salaries and per George they think different. NetApp wants to get younger.

Most HSG engineers in Boulder were consumed by SolidFire. The ones not chosen have been told to find jobs. It seems that the Boulder facility will be cleared of HSG people and transferred to SolidFire or closed. E-Series luster has worn off and its long term future is cloudy at best.

If you're in Sunnyvale watch the b3 cafeteria carefully. When you notice the closed door meeting with lots of managers locked in the café then expect the axe the following morning. If you think you are on the list clean your desk the night before so you don't have to deal with the embarrassment of walking out with boxes the day of. Also spend time to clean out your laptop of any personal things right now. It's not the end of the world and you probably should have left a long time ago anyway. Good luck my fellow NTAPsters!
