What to expect? Hopefully no more layoffs for this year.

All right already. Give it a rest, losers. I said it once and I'll post it again. If you have no more third quarter results info, this thread is dead.
@K4B0EiM-6wqf , For the record, you posted "CVX followed the rest of the market" What part of you being 100% wrong did you not understand?
@5zuf - Actually, just for the record, on Monday, VTI (Vanguard Total Market ETF) and VXUS (Vanguard Total International Stock ETF) were both up, albeit only slightly, even though the major indices were down. Those were the index funds that I own and was referring to.
Yes there wil be layoffs this year as well as next year.
Would all you Buttheads and Deadwoods and people trolling who can not invest or even read daily returns results properly( I checked, its true) please scram and take it somewhere else. The topic is Layoffs after the 3rd quarter results for Chevron. I assume that this topic is officially dead since I have heard no new news on it.
Thanks
To the person who posted "CVX followed the rest of the market" for yesterday, I remember it, You are dead wrong. The entire market was slightly negative and CVX picked up almost an entire percent as was posted below by -5zuf. Did you fail kindergarten Arithmetic too? It's easy to check. 10-31-16, IIRC
@-5inr Hi, Butthurt Loser idiot. You are apparently the loser who does not know how to invest. I just proved my point. Incidentally, I predicted nothing. You are replying to earlier posts from others who also obviously know that you are a pathetic loser. I have simply deduced from your more recent comments that you are asshurt and pathetic from your losses. I did not even post at all about what I am invested in, pathetic loser. If you had a grain of sense you would know index funds are not the solution to everything. Prepare to be cut as a piece of deadwood for doing nothing on company time soon.
Also - I do not click on links posted by a loser who is an idiot and needs to prove something to others anonymously.(I don't click on any posted links as far as that goes)
Your post is pathetic and embarrassing.
@5zuf - You just proved my point. CVX followed the rest of the market (though it actually did somewhat better). You predicted it would drop. It's a fool's errand to try to pick and time stocks, even for a seasoned investor. Most people who think they are beating the averages are just fooling themselves because they don't take to time to actually compare their results objectively with the indexes. If you can consistently do better you should quit CVX and make a fortune for yourself as a full-time investor, cause you obviously know something even the world's most successful investor doesn't know.

But if your prediction last week is any indication, you've just been fooling yourself. Sometimes grandma knows best.
Folks: go with the index 500 with 80% of your money and you will do well as long as you invest long term.
To @-4kmf
DJI -0.10
GSPC -.05
IXIC - 0.02
CVX + .90
All the major indices were down today. CVX was up. I don't short stocks, and you're an idiot. Stick with index funds like grandma since you are obviously not a successful investor.
@4vxj - Uh, the index funds were up today but if you shorted CVX you were down. So who's the loser? Good luck trying to predict the market.
"stick to index funds like the rest of us"??? Speak for yourself, loser.
@1rvd - CVX up 1.5 pts in first half hour of trading on Monday. So much for your "profit taking on the opening bell" prediction. You better stick with index funds like the rest of us.
3rd quarter resulted in higher revenues, but lower than expected profits. If CVX price jumped today, it was on the announcement of a penny more on the dividend. This is only a short term jump unless oil goes higher to support the extra cash flow necessary to support the extra yield. If the bet doesn't materialize by next quarter, look for the stock price to reverse. Then again, the stock jump today was probably a knee jerk reaction to the dividend news. Monday there will be profit taking on the opening bell.
Chevron reports a profit of $1.3 bln. Looks like Watson can come out of hiding.
No, he'll probably have a sore throat again.
Will chickensh!t Watson show up this time?
How about awful...with a sprinkling of borrowed billions to maintain the sacred dividend.
