Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Summit sale

Managers are explaining that the summit sale has nothing to do with getting rid our inventory. It's a "way to show our gratitude to our outfitters". Yea, guess we all have stupid written across our forehead.

We will see what type of gratitude they show us after the holidays.

Yes, The summit pricing for whatever reason is nice with christmas coming , however right before the sale started almost all clothing was pulled and put in a truck to sit in the parking lot not to be touched again, and yet another asnine decision and waste of time and money, for what? Now being told to pull the stuff back off the truck and wait for a list to pull and put back on floor? Just like send backs waste of time pull an item or list send back only to have exact same stuff come on truck a week later, Why? There is just so much waste, it blows my mind, ask a simple question and they have to have 9 meetings to decide if you can be cross trained to help cashier?

Managers always lie in this situation, just as they did when they told us Bass Pro was not buying Cabela's.

Summit Sale has been a lot of different things in the past. One item at cost, All others at summit level price. Also add in Bargain Cave items at cost. Things change, discounts get worse and profits get more for the company.

Look at the positive side, many outfitters will soon be able to get that great Obama healthcare. Im sure TM will be touting that soon as a Christmas gift to the unemployed.

And put it on the Cabelas charge card that you won't be able to pay off because your job is gone. We're giving you a discount on this stuff so you can give us your paycheck back a little more slowly is all.

getting rid of branded products as opposed to taking a hit on them after the transition. It is what it is....

BP Employee Discount:

40% off BP branded products (i.e., Red Head)

15% off everything else (i.e., North Face)

0% off guns and ammo

'BP gives "Summit" pricing on BP branded items only, everything else is "Base Camp" pricing - Just sayin'

I kind of expect management to have us read between the lines at this point. A 2 month window to buy house brand products at summit prices is just to show how much they appreciate us? No, probably to ease in the BP discount policy for next year. They have tipped us off to that now in a more than subtle way. Like another said, take advantage of it if you have the money. Great for the new hires this year. Oh yeah, how about that ~1% bump in pay these past weeks? Making changes for the BP change-over I guess. At least that is a positive unless we find find the BP employee comps are a good deal higher in pay than us .........

I'm guessing this is for employees only? Back when I was there the Summit sale (2 years ago i think) was on everything...

If it was a sign of gratitude, then the summit sale would be on more than just the Cabela's branded products.

I guess take advantage of it while you can when it starts (if you can afford it given the uncertain future of our employment)...With their recent track record, they may cancel it soon after it starts.
