Unemployment insurance?

Has anyone successfully received unemployment insurance after getting severed or does a severance package or pension make us ineligible?

In Oklahoma the maximum weeks one can draw is 26 weeks. The weekly amount one qualifies for, which depends on their earnings, will dictate how much of a weekly benefit, therefore how many weeks.

Texas and Oklahoma are the same. The week you get the lump sum severance (doesn't matter how many weeks severance) you don't get an unemployment check for that week you received the severance payout.

Not True in Texas! it's only the week you get your severance check, not how much or for how many weeks. I got 60 weeks severance in one check and then started 12 weeks of unemployment checks. Then took Lump Sum retirement after that.

You cannot collect both severance and unemployment for the same weeks. Your unemployment will be delayed for the severance period. So for example, if you are getting 6 weeks of severance, your unemployment with start the seventh week and you will receive your full unemployment. I was let go and this is what happened in my case.

You are better off not working there with the people who post venomous things. They are just miserable excuses for humans.

In Oklahoma you are eligible. The week you get the severance payment, you report it and you won't get an unemployment check for that week. Then your unemployment checks resume unless you have any earnings from a job. The good thing is there is a total payout of unemployment and depending on how much you qualify for on your weekly benefit, when you don't get a check the week you get severance payout only delays the full payout of unemployment. Although there is often a long wait to talk to someone from the state, you should try to talk to them. Write down as many questions as you can think of and ask them. They were helpful when I had to draw unemployment because I was clueless since I had never drawn before. Good luck! Chin up!
