They'll basically create a new entity, put the networking assets into it, and then declare it bankrupt, thereby writing off a ton of debt.
Well, it appears that all bets are off on the sale of the Networking business. Latest talk in Santa Clara is that the primary buyer has basically backed out over a few final negotiating points. The deal included an up front payment that would cover next year's debt payment and some performance based payments next year, but they couldn't agree on the final amount. Bankruptcy now seems like the best alternative and they're making preparations for that now.
