Then leave?
Yes it still stinks. To the poor individual on 40k, yes there are better options. I hope you EOI'd, as that is not a wage worth staying with COP.
To those of you on a decent wage. Yes we stay on, but at what cost to our health, our families, and our future prospects. When looking for exit opportunities this is a company you have to explain how 'you were different'. Anyone who has some amount of decency and talent knows that this is a company that has lost any real trust or respect. Everyone should prepare an exit strategy; some are just forced to implement sooner than others, so be prepared. 1urf is correct that looking while employed can boost confidence, but perhaps those on a good package are the lucky ones in the long run?
Yes this is a management issues. Too many crappy ones, too nepotistic, too secretive,,....,the company is a piggy bank for those who can be oblivious to the politics and crap (and even for those of us who find it infuriating). But it is sh--. Can it be recovered? With the current leadership, no. People understand the oil and gas markets are sh--. But even in layoffs a company can show leadership; we do not.
For $40k/year I'd not be inclined to put with the stress, uncertainty, disrespect... However, most of the "petrotechnical" staff make more in an oil company than we would doing an analogous job elsewhere.
I make 40 grand a year how over inflated is it? I think people at safeway make more than I do
But it stinks with an inflated oil salary... Better to look for other options while you are still getting paid than the alternative that so many of our colleagues are working with.
