Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Most Grateful about for Covington.

There are a few things I am grateful about for my tenure at COV100.

  1. That the Gulf Café never attempted to cook a Gumbo. The Red Beans and Rice, a very difficult dish to mess up, was as Cajun as those guys needed to try.

  2. That the elevators never "let me down" faster than designed (though they often made some pretty scary sounding noises.

  3. That I didn't have to spend a whole lot of time with the new meeting room booking process.

  4. That I never s---er punched anyone there, though especially in meeting I often thought, "what planet is this fool from and how the heck did they manage to hire on with a bona fide oil company?

  5. But most importantly, that I had the opportunity to work with some great people, on some great projects, made some life long friends, learned to tolerate those who were not like me, and suppress some RED Energy. Not tongue in cheek, it was a great ride.

1cvv, let us know if you've enjoyed any of the ladies at Cov. You know what I'm asking.

I work in Cov and worked at Gravier in NOLA. What I like about Cov is the women take care of themselves and look great. At Gravier the shrimp poboys started to pile on the YATS. Keep it up ladies! Hit that salad bar and gym!

@JuP4WPf-vrl, There are many many of those black cloud people here in Houston, in fact I think more than in Louisiana. That's any office. Anyone who says any different is holding a grudge about some particular person or people. Chances are it's the person him or herself that can't get along with others, not the accused. Some of those people claim to be picked on anywhere they are and fail to look in the mirror or try better themselves. It's always someone else's fault for them.

That's interesting wng, as I was about as "different" from most who walked the halls of COV100 as you could find in the halls of COV100. But I still found friends, allies, work associates with positive energy, doers who embraced every challenge, climbed mountains that were said to be unclimbable, made positive progress and forward looking change, walked in with a smile and walked out with an even larger smile. I never felt prejudiced against and quite the contrary, found a BU that embraced us for who we were and what we brought to the table. BTW that is pretty much the same experience I had working at one point or another for virtually every BU in Chevron over 30+ years, on projects with amazing success in meeting our goals and PP&E (not PPE, if you're really Chevron you know the difference.)

But I don't begrudge you you're happiness. There were some in COV100 with a perpetual frown, a black cloud following them wherever they went and over all they did, spewing doom and gloom in the form of a toxic personal fallout. I personally thought they were more of an infection than an aid in our mission but to each her or his own. If that's what makes you happy, continue the misery, carry on!

-wng, It is completely obvious what your standpoint is and thanks for again pointing out your opinion on the COV office that you have so many times repeatedly on this site. You are a person who likes to refer to someone else as a bigot if they do not like your lifestyle. It is likely that your lifestyle goes beyond the normal, and when I say normal, I mean what is defined by Mother Nature.

For you to insult people repeatedly and call them bigots simply because they have different beliefs than you makes you the biggest Bigot of them all. I have plenty of LGBT and minority friends, I live in a community full of them and they do not go around spewing the hate that you do and calling everyone bigots who are different. They understand what it is to be different and accept others whom are different. Carry on with your miserable and pathetic hate-filled life of judging people, Bigot.

Glad you had some good times, but don't assume that everyone is treated equally. You aren't the center of the universe. Some people are picked out as easy and acceptable targets. Its called bigotry and its based on singling out those who are different for one reason or another. Your highlights aren't exactly high up on most peoples list, either. IF Gumbo, elevators and the room booking system are the most important aspects to base your opinion on, then that's pretty pathetic

To the person calling anyone with different opinions automatic trolls - I believe you prove their point as to the reasons for not liking Covington. That's the best proof you can give them.

Make all the fun that you want, I've been in some Chevron offices that make COV feel like a luxury hotel. And the employees are no different than anywhere. Same company, different building. Next.
