Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

How are expats justified in current market conditions?

Why do US expats still continue to get sent across the globe? Can the home country not supply any management?

Probably Al-Hirschberg do not trust any Canadian to head Canada ...

Despite being a Canadian who would like to see Canadians in leadership positions; AL is right, Canada needs a strong leadership rather than a soft one.

I heard we have a new HR person coming to L48 who is an expat. How many US HR people were let go? And that's in HR, where supposedly they follow the rules. Not in this company. COST project was a total joke. No real outcomes except to layoff thousands of people and cancel hundreds of expat assignments only to create more now for those who know how to work the system and use knee pads. Disgusting really.
