Do unvested RSUs get paid out?

Not sure if it's different in Canada or not but this depends on a couple of factors. Those RSU's held 6 months or less are lost. Those 6 months but less than 1 year are generally pro-rated (e.g. number of months between grant and layoff / 12). Those 1 year or more are vested and deposited shortly after you are off payroll. It may be a little different for those 50 or older.
I didn't understand this either which I assumed meant they would be not.
No. They are unvested.
