Thread regarding Sears layoffs

St Petersburg Florida closing

This is a quote from Tampa Bay Times newspaper:

Seritage Growth Properties, a New York based real estate developer, has submitted plans to the city of St. Petersburg to demolish the 188,515-square-foot Sears store to make way for a new 151,952-square-foot shopping center, according to building permits filed in St. Petersburg. Leases have already been signed with D--k's Sporting Goods, Lucky's Market and Petsmart, with room for one more anchoring retailer.

Sears Holdings has a plan for its Sears and Kmart Stores. Their term for this plan is "Transformation". The Tyrone Square Mall Sears store illustrates this plan.

wow. These two stores were big volume years ago for districts 276 and 277. This leaves no sears store to cover eastern Orlando. Those folks in most cases won't drive to the Florida mall or Altamonte to shop at sears. Depot and lowes will continue to gain market share in appliances. Mr ed thinks he can gain more money by selling these properties or leasing to other tenants. This guy doesn't give a crap about turning around sears... never really has.

They are also getting rid of Orlando Fashion SQ store. I agree, more to follow. I can see more closings in the Tampa/Orlando market.
