A few dozen people got the pink slip today at BD - San Diego. They are mostly Alaris people from what I hear.

BD is in for a rude awakening. I won't say how. OFFSHORE OFFSHORE OFFSHORE. All we need now is a President that penalizes companies for off-shoring. You will definitely "BITE THE BULLET" BD!
Sept 30 2016 I got call from my manager. We no longer need your position. I. After 13 years I would al least expect a face to face . Manager said it is much bigger when I asked was if I was only person getting layed off .
Dispensing was hit today, I'm one of them (formerly), and was told it's coast to coast. Far more work than people and new contracts all the time but there it is. After 2 years of being told we had more work than people and 100% external hiring for unskilled PM and SAPI positions they are starting, before January as we all worried.
Calling San Diego's BD office "Research & Development" is quite a stretch.
The company is scared $hitless of trying to innovate. Instead, everyone becomes a manager/director and a thousand H1B's implement the most minute of advances. The half-blind leading the blind.
I get it, enterprise software is always ugly and unimaginative. You have no further to look than the fearful VP's/Directors and middle-manager-critters that have no vision, no courage, and no passion for what they work on.
They do care about late eClasses though.
Including SW engineers were project managers and at least one director.
I believe, another round off layoff coming this month. In BD it is very common that every sept some people let go.
I was one of them, I couldn't belive it.
Outsourcing everything, getting rid of their more experience employees for cheaper labor at the cost of quality. People with no passion, just $$$.

about 50 people. This came as a BIG surprise. All were stunned. Many MEs and techs but the bulk of the loss was from Software QA testers group, which is under R&D.
More like 60 people.
