Thingmaker Status?

Hi, I'm not a Mattel employee, just a regualr Mom, but it seems like lots of insider infoermation can be found here so I thought it might be a good place to ask what the status of the Thingmaker 3D printer was. I remember hearing about it sometime around xmas last year and remember it said it would be hitting shelves Fall of 2016, but I checked the thing maker website and it has ZERO information. I was hoping of getting one for my kids for xmas this year but now i'm afraid the project was canccled or delayed. Anyone Mattel employees working on it ro know about if it will still be availbe this holiday searson?

Anyone who has had experience with 3D printing, and has knowledge of Children's Play Patterns, knew the ThingMaker was doomed.

Add in any knowledge of product costing and Toy Safety limitations, and a competent management would have stopped this debacle before one dollar was spent developing it.

The trouble is, our management has no expertise in any of the above. They see the sizzle, and don't understand there is no steak.

Someone needs to answer for the wasted funds on this one. I'll bet it won't be the real culprits.

Thingmaker would be as exciting to a child as an old fashioned rock tumbler/polisher. The amount of time it takes to produce even the tiniest piece of plastic would leave child so bored that they would forget about that over-priced piece of crap in minutes. Spend your money wisely: Go buy him some legos or something that fosters his imagination.

Thing maker was halted just weeks prior to production . Another example of Toy Fair hype followed by delivering nothing that was promised . Nothing!!!! There is zero confidence in current executive management. No thing maker under Christmas trees. Any wonder why other toy companies make Mattel look pitiful????
