Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

mind yer fkng fingerprints

first off, everybody still in the company at this point, be absolutely certain that big brother/sister are watching everything you do on your computer right now. a trusted contact in IT confirmed that yesterday.

to those responsible, caring individuals in positions of authority, sorry that you have been forced to let hard-working, dedicated and capable people go. I see the anguish in your faces as you walk back to your offices after having to release yet another good soul in the current purge. you are good people who have to do a bad job.

to those in positions of authority who let hard-working, dedicated and capable individuals go for petty, personal and purely political reasons...there's a special place in hell for you that I hope you'll know intimately...and very, very soon. I hope you realize that you're only in the positions you are due to nepotism, affirmative action or some other form of "help"...and I hope you'll feel a special glow when you realize I'm talking about you and the fact that you didn't actually achieve the role you're in. you're obviously not where you are due to your abilities or expertise in your area of responsibility...which is so laughingly obvious to all who know you...as to not really be all that funny. generalization: you're notoriously micromanaging, obnoxious, vindictive & an all around arsehole...and all of your subordinates & colleagues are afraid of you. Nice approach to living life, fuktard. Can't lead by example, persuasion or inspiration (which you can't)...just gonna have to frighten those fkrs into submission! By god, you're the only person on the planet who matters, woe be to all who don't bow down to your self-realized (and incredibly misguided) self-appointment as Prophet of . and, BTW, these sentiments apply to many more than just one piece of sh-- who this is addressed to...believe it that you're not the only one who did what you did over the past couple of days (and it will never be forgotten, you fkng sad little queens/kings of yer sad little hills). you're nothing but fkng bureaucrats...dotting I's & crossing T's so very obviously means so much more to you than engaging in activities that actually benefit the business (in lieu of your sadistic/psychotic/imperialistic/megalomaniacal whims)...you're part of the sickness that's currently killing this company. when is the last time that you personally interacted with someone who actually engages in getting oil/gas out of the ground?

karma will serve you. you've done wrong, and the universe knows it. you are a detriment to the survival of this company (not to mention the human race), and reality will shine more light on those facts with every passing day than you are going to be comfortable with. i'll to see to it.

whammy!

if one were not able to separate the personal and the professional, this ride would have no way lasted 18+ years

recognition of injustice & doing your job are two different things.

and anyone who is willing to turn a blind eye to injustice because "attitude" might present itself @ work...is not worth pushing out an airlock, or the price of a McMuffin (on sale)

You are indeed being watched and heard pretty much everywhere on company grounds, and anything you do on your phone, if it uses COP's wifi, is being examined. Basically, if you're not pinching a loaf in the bathroom, they're listening and watching. What they see can, and will, be used against you, especially when headcounts continually need to be cut.

Sometimes I really understand why people get let go - and why others don't. I realize that this is anonymous and you think you're just venting but if you're going to work with this same attitude, it has to show in your work and dealings with your coworkers.

I wasn't ranting about something that happened to me...I, too have some of the best management I've ever had in COPC, and am still gainfully employed because I take care of business when I'm on company time. I was ranting about 3 very particular situations where "not the best management" cough got rid of good people due to political reasons over the past few days.

Don't assume someone is pissed off because they feel themselves slighted but are unaware of their own deficiencies...some of us actually give a sh-- about the people around us.

I really hope this person finds peace. I have seen mentioned on this site several times how upset people are about the Data Safe software. First of all @JmxEzuE-1lsn is right. Did you really think that this is the first time that activity has been monitored on COP computers? The only thing that is different or new with Data Safe is tracking file/folder copy/transfers, which is actually a normal thing for a company who is concerned about its data. Other activity has been tracked for years. It's just not publicized like the data safe project was.

It's not as if someone is invading some privacy of a personal computer that you own. These devices are owned by the company and they can do whatever they want. Every time you lock or restart your computer and sign in, you agree that you know this is happening, unless you ignore the message on the screen.

How many major corporations have had devastating breaches recently due to poor security in the computing environment? I would much rather work for a secure company than one that worries about offending someones delicate sensitivities.

The question I really have is, what difference does it make if the company monitors your activities anyway. As an employee, I was hired to do a job. To come in every day and work for 8 hours for the company. Not to be on social networking sites, or youtube, or pandora or whatever else. So for me, if I come in and do what I was hired to do for those eight hours, then what possible difference does it make if the information security team monitors what I am doing? If am doing what I get paid to do, then there is nothing to worry about. In fact, I am almost glad they do it. Keeps my data and my personal information safe and protects the company from being attacked. Seems to me the ones that are so upset about monitoring are the people who aren't productive and don't want someone seeing what they are doing when they should be working?

Final point about the author of the original post. I was always taught that when I point my finger at someone, I have three pointing right back at me. Some bosses are terrible to work for. They are human though, and some people react to how they are treated. Sometimes the world isn't out to get you. If you find that time after time, your bosses seem to be the worst bosses and you just don't understand why this keeps happening to you, perhaps its time to take a personal inventory to see if it really is everyone else who's the problem. I happen to work for a very very good management team. Probably the best I have ever had. Sorry you had such a poor experience. Hope that turns around for you.

Bottom line, when you are at work, do you work and you don't have anything to worry about.

Did you seriously believe that they did not track your emails, Internet use, numbers called, areas and times accessed by your key card and all the rest before?

Seriously get a clue. Yes they upgraded and installed new software recently and yes it tracks everything you do and data you move and usb drive transfers and all the rest.

But if you think they didn't do this before, like every other big company on the planet then you are living in a dream world

As for the rest. It's a downturn and people are getting let go. It s---s. It hurts. But going on a super rant doesn't help anything
