Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Last week of quarter layoff coming soon

There will be layoffs in last week of September to make sure the 85% target of survey participation is achieved. Huge HR PIPs and VP PIPs associated with this target.

Also as that will end of quarter some layoffs will look good in the quarterly earning report.

If you think there won't be layoffs because of non-participation in survey - then I dare you not to participate.

It's cute how all the SLB guys are worried about the survey.

You know what Cameron has historically done with the survey results? NOT A GODDAMN THING.

They'll cleverly interpret the results to say it shows how much people love this place, talk about safety for a minute, have a quick circle jerk about how it means their leadership is making this company great, mention something about some improvement committees, and that's the last you'll hear about it until next year.

who think the survey have nothing to do with layoff is dreaming. True ,it is used for sum of the head count. Just be ready, this is a polictical game rather than a economic down turn.

I think they better start doing some heavy recruiting then.

OP is wrong. Why go through the hassle (and cost) of engaging Gallup to implement a survey solely for purpose of chopping? The company has done a fantastic job of reducing headcount without outside help. I'm as cynical as anyone else about the motivation behind the survey (or what good will come from it), but I highly doubt the purpose is for planning for further reductions.

the bases of the survey was to calculate the # of people still employed, that will seek new employment when Business picks up in 6-12 months from now and leave the company. HR knows most have been severely irritated in this down turn, and they need a % of how many new hires they need to recruit in 2017 based on the % spit out on this survey. That's all this survey was about, doesn't have anything to do with more layoffs...

Any company that creates a survey, rather than engaging my actual management to find out my views one to one, then fails to establish credibility in the survey, then fires me if I don't complete it, does not deserve my labour.
