Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

The best advice from a 35 year Halliburton employee to a young employee with Halliburton. Look for a different industry to make a career.

Because today's Halliburton management has little to no regards to the employees who generates the revenue. And the support groups.

You are only a number and cost and profit is the only thing upper management looks at. Halliburton will use you up... And walk you out the gate. It's a shame that Halliburton is still able to use Mr. Erle.P. Halliburton.name.

You don't have to advise them, at least the college kids that is. They are being schooled to change jobs/companies every 5 years or so. They are being taught this from the get-go, so they come out of school with no loyalty in mind and in a very short time will leave for greener pastures.

I agree, I moved on to another industry and I am making the same as at Halliburton. Not only that but we get more time off and vacation days. The last two years I was at Hal before my layoff in late 2016 I had my salary frozen in 2014 (no raise/downturn) and in 2015 (no raise), 2016 (no raise). Before you know it folks, you will be paid the same as people in other industries that DO get raises every year. And another thing, in 2015 and 2016 m health insurance at Hal went up significantly. At my NEW employment I pay a little less than half what I paid at Hal for BETTER coverage. $3 RX and $5 co pays. I agree with the author of this post. If you are one of the few that still have your job at Halliburton, I would look elsewhere. Chances are you will find something else that pays you the same or more with better benefits for you the the family.

39 year layed off hand . And the truth is. I didn't spend 75 cents on the dollar I made.

Enjoying retirement life. ..Stress free and glad to be out of the so called Halliburton family. The truth did not hurt me a bit.

How I do hope you can get a few more years with Halliburton. Because. The truth is. You will need it.

Not everyone with a driver's license gets a job at HAL And works their way up. I'm sorry, it doesn't work that way anymore. You my friend, have been left behind, Just because you work hard, doesn't mean you are doing the company any good.

For all you younger employees. You can google Mr. Halliburtons flying H logo.

Oh and by the way. His first name was spelled Erle. Not Earl.

Have to say I was always grateful for my employment at Halliburton. But as the older folks have stated. Erle P. Halliburtons company was honorable ethical company that a employee could say with pride. I work for the best oilfield service company in the industry.

You had to work your way up from driver to cementer. And when you became a cementer it was due to the fact on hands training and a mentor who trained you.

A Halliburton toolman was the cream of the crop. We and I say we. Learned to be cementers toolmen the old-fashioned way. .

And we were proud to wear the flying H. Mr. Halliburtons log on our coveralls.

Dear JcqZQ3K-2ljn,

I do not think the original poster is (in your words) "an ungrateful sh--head." You, on the other hand, are in ignorant an sh--head and have no idea what Halliburton was like 35+ years ago - which is probably before you were born.

When the OP and I started with Halliburton, it was an honourable company with management that was interested in the well being of its employees rather than being driven only by greed, self promotion and taking care of themselves and their cronies. This change in attitude towards the working people is not unique to Halliburton as this sorry transformation has occurred at most American companies over the past 35 or so years.

Too bad you will never know what we are talking about.
