Newest guidance from SJV leadership is end of year pmps to be closed in the system by October 31. Are the other BUs experiencing pmps due this early? I am curious why they want them due so early this year. One clear motivation for having rankings finalized early is in preparation for another ESP event.

-9peh, you are certainly right on that.
@9umm, there's sometimes no rhyme or reason for who stays and who gets released. I'm fairly certain it all has has to do with saving on payroll burden (age and total benefits cost) as well as cleaning house (getting rid of the openly opinionated employees and talented employees who threaten their supervisor or manager's job). Last, but not least on the list to get the boot are the lesser paid, non-productive employees.
The PMP process is a joke and the outcome of your ranking in the closed sessions are highly subjective and dependent on whoever is representing you in those meetings. The meek supervisors are pushed to the side and the alpha men and women bring home the bacon for their direct reports. HR also muddies the water with their affirmative action and politically correct agendas and quotas. Don't expect fairness at Chevron. If you want to rise, you must position yourself to work in the right group, under the right supervisor or manager, and learn backstabbing techniques.
Rankings mean nothing in this political beauty contest...I received 2+ rankings on FGP and still released
You think I'm a laid off pr!ck like you, 8pqy? I've got 45 days left to do real work, then I'm off on vacation asswipe. That's how I earn my annual salary at Chevron. I bust tail for 10 months then relax for 2. Management demands this of me and that's how they pay me. Work 10 and screw off 2. All good with me.
If you are wondering why you have to work more than 3/4's of any year that you get paid an "Annual salary" in then the rest of us reading your pathetic posts are not wondering one bit at all why you are here on the "Layoffs" website- LOL!
-8fpj, What do you mean? We have improved. A few years back, it was the norm to work only 9 months of the year. Now we work through October and cut back to a trickle in Nov and Dec. After all, it's typical for the months of Nov and Dec to very slow due to it being the end of annual spending budget and the holidays. Do you work in the oil and gas industry?
7pkl is one of the reasons that Chevron has had to make these cuts and why they are needing to cut so much of what they call the "dead wood". He is a lazy do-nothing liberal democrat bringing Chevron down and would rather live off other peoples hard work and then retire to sponge off other people's tax dollars, which is why he supports Hillary. Very typical of a democrat.
7pkl , you and all of the lazy managers who disappear for 2 months at the end of the year are part of what's wrong at CVX. You are dragging everyone down. Why don't you try to improve something?
Don't kid yourself, 7zvn. The scoring rules still stay the same. Just fewer people to kiss a$$ with. Those that smooch better than others get the 2+.
All the 2- people were sacked. 2 is the new 2-. 2+ is the new 2.
I rest on my laurels in November and December. Once the PMP is wrapped up on Ocober 31, that is about it for me. My office job slows down to a trickle the last 2 months of the year. Other people, including management start disappearing little by little on vacation. For me, I really put in 10 months of work each year and I've been getting ranking between 2 and 2+ all the time.
We have done final PMPs by Oct. 31 for the past couple years in CPL. You have to just guess on what you will finish or maybe most people don't get much done after November 1? I'm not sure.
There will not be an AMBU in two years.
-5gxc, your feedback only helps validate that AMBU was a failure before it even started. Atlas were the only ones that made out well... in getting the hell out on time.
AMBU ePMP process is the worst... HR runs it and don't know what they are doing. Especially the Manager and Team Lead, think they know it but not the case... This BU its always a joke with the Management and HR, they don't give the right people credit . I hear things in meetings and they are so inappropriate that it makes me sick. But if you say anything, you will be out the door. Overpaid idiots. I hate working here, hoping I can relocate soon.
Nobody doubts that pmps are a bullshit exercise. Thanks to those who clarified this is the norm for other BUs.
Greta Garbo just sat up in bed and decided to join the rest of the company, bless her heart.
Ppm are a joke.
M
You are correct. There will be a layoff announced in October/November. The announcement will inform everyone that a further reduction will occur in early 2017.
I can not speak for other BUs, but ETC has always held first level manager meetings on pay determination a week or two before thanksgiving... So PMP in by end of Oct sounds about right. One does not hear ones rank for months later mind you.
OP, It really doesn't matter if the ePMP process for the calendar year is required to be finalized 2 full months before the end of the year. Most of us have caught on by now that this pseudo evaluation system called the Performance Management Process (PMP) is mearly a form-filling exercise for HR to check the box that Chevron has a formal employee performance evaluation protocol. Yeah, sure! I've been cut and pasting about 95% of the same horse manure from my previous PMP into my current one for the last 6 years. They've been handing me nothing but 2 and 2+ rankings all the time.
Yeah, Bakersfield is several years behind bad in this. Surprised CNAEP HR let them slide for the past few years. Get with the program SJV!
It has been October everywhere else for ages. Bakersfield is a backwater only just now catching on.
