Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

It's not over... not yet

While the vast majority of you sit there and think phew ... I made it through 2016. Well sorry we are not quite there yet.

News just came through we have to reduce our costs yet again ! Targeting 15% headcount and 10 % indirects.

Tewkesbury and Arbroath closing as Singapore takes on more hires. Aberdeen operations to be supported outside of the middle east .

Am I surprised ? No.

You do have to laugh at those who lost there jobs last year and have started bombarding us managers with their cv's at the slighted oil price increase.

john dubya how correct you are, the disconnect between management and us drones has never been more apparent as it is now. having worked at arbroath for over ten years i have watched the management be complicit in the movement of work out of the facility yet not have the balls or drive to replace it. Singapore is obvisouly a good idea for the main company but is bad news for small psl,s like ours. that is if they could do the more complicated jobs on their own without support from all the short sighted money grabbers that cant see they are doing themselves out of a job in the long run.Ah well back to painting the floor on o/t for me !

Tewks has been rolling over for years letting work leave the U.K. to Singapore and no work coming back in from elsewhere. Management should have been fighting their corner and spending more time in the US promoting the facility instead of playing with spreadsheets. If it survives it will never be the same again and, as a tech there, fear we will be encumbered with a dxxx-head from the US.

Makes sense to keep more managers than workers. Workers are a dime a dozen. So many are out of work that they'll be banging on the doors to get back in. Managers are hard to come by.

if you get youre kicks spreading panic good on you dave da rave, just back the rumours up with a little bit of fact though. arbroath are doing allright at the moment compared to some places, we are waiting for iwc and red spider to move in with us this month after they have been moved down from aberdeen. while i am sure singapore would love to get in on the act they have shown consistantly they cant cope with anything complicated ,with out backup from the traitors who sell us out by going out to train them undermining all of our positions for a few extra sheckles. feels good doesnt it chaps ?

Last time round top management said need to flat the management level but we can still many managers are still there....less ground workers but more management level workers. So many layers of management staff for what? PGL,senior PGL, manager, senior manager, director, senior director, vice president, senior vice president, president, senior president....waste of money....!

What a lot of blatant scare mongering. Not an iota of truth.

And why do you have to laugh at the poor people who lost their jobs and are reapplying in the hope that they can feed their families and keep the lights on? What does that lack of empathy have to say about you as a person?

You expect top management to have concern for the "little guy", but you, an obvious "teeny weenie", have none either. Pitiful!
