Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Confused, scared and tired of the drama.

Dread the thought of going to work tomorrow. I work at corporate in Sidney. Nobody is happy. So much whispering and wondering. We all know long term employment is not a reality. I am not sure where to go from here. Where do I start? Born and raised in Sidney. I have to move my family from the only community they have ever known. I worked very hard to climb the ladder as a way to provide for my family. I see the writing on the wall. I hope to beat cabelas to the punch. My resume is ready, just have to figure out what direction to take. Does anybody else feel the same way as I do?

If Sidney is the only place you've known, then let me assure you there are a lot better places out there. Lots of the area is great but Similar values and good solid businesses and activities are available other places if you look around, depending on your skills and interests you have a lot to choose from. It is a great time to make a change on your terms. plan now and look at these changes as a new adventure. I was in a similar situation many years ago and breaking out of the familiar was truly great for everyone and looking back 20 years the only regret is not doing it sooner. Go boldly go where you want and go when you want, on your terms. Good luck..

Pretty sure the Eteam are all retiring. They're not concerned about future employment.

The eteam and tommy are a disgrace. They walk away with 8 million dollars. How does he sleep with himself. Corey , Williams , Andrea, all the vp"s are snakes the lie they have no ethics and heart. Karma is a b--ch and they will discover that it's a small world when they try to find further employment. If bass pro hires them then they are fools and they will run them into the ground as well. Remington got rid of tommy before he could ruin that business but Cabela's wasn't smart enough to do so. Anyone left there get out now please

I don't understand why people of Cabela's lives are at stake if nothing has even happened yet? Just ride it out and see what the future may hold and what the next work day brings. I have a good feeling about the takeover. It's what we need really. It beats working for the corrupt, right? BPS seems more personable and people-oriented. And the corporate of Cabela's? They are only thinking about ways to make that cash and not people focused (just like hospitals). I find it funny just just watching certain corporate workers placing blame on others in order to save their own asses. I really do hope they rid certain managers and higher ups. They do not understand what leadership truly means.

Colorado has a growing economy and a high standard of living. Move there. If you own your home you need to sell it ASAP. The housing market in Sidney is toxic now and only going to get worse. You can continue to work there but your wages are going to only match the depreciation of your home over the next year. Get out now. Local economies collapse all the time. Take Williston, ND post fracking boom for instance if you don't believe me.

Anybody hear of a work stoppage? I sure wouldn't put my best effort in anything going forward. Do the bare minimum and pursue resumes and job applications.

Don't be the last rat on a sinking boat. Get your resume out now, talk to head hunters. The longer you sit and wait the further you get behind in the line of everyone else wanting a new job. I've been thru two buy outs and we made sure that we got rid of the other company's employees, and used our own managers. Good Luck!

Watch now as managers scramble to make their store numbers look better. They know that they are on the front line of getting their jobs replaced with a BP trained employee.

Feeling the same way, so defeated. I've worked so hard and everything around me is crashing down. People can say "think positive" all they want, but the true reality is that people have dedicated their lives to this company for NOTHING. We deserve to be angry. Yes, opportunities are out there but not where any of us really want them to be... here! F--- YOU TOMMY AND EVP TEAM GO GET F---ED....

I know that this is not an easy topic, nor will this advice make sense at this moment - think beyond the house that you have if you do have one - believe that positive action will ensure that things will work out. Don't let the house or a possible move bring you down - take action for your career and your family, now.

Step back for a moment and take stock in everything that you have accomplished, all that you have learned and areas of the state or country that you have ever considered living. Don't look at this as a reaction, look at this as an adventure - involve the family, think of the positive - new experiences, new friends, new opportunities- and don't wait. Start right now - you owe the current regime nothing - take care of you and your family. You will find to be one of the best things you ever did for yourself and your family along with your future. Don't look back. This current lead ship team is so bad - trust me, you will look back and wonder why you did not make this move earlier. Have faith. March forward. Believe that this is going to be a great thing for you and your family - it will be!
