I saw LP programs that contributed to the bottom line big time... Macys LP does nothing for safety, that is controlled by operations. If you go into a Macys look how many registers have cameras on them... It is a dated program and I would say one that has not been updated since the 80s or 90s... Most Macys Career employees in that area are clueless how advanced other companies are with their programs... Managers have no control over their business and it is micro managed from the top down.

That is true about LP but it does go beyond them. Terry wants to show a profit to the shareholders and that is were the Macy's REINVENT come in to play. This will not be a good January 2017. First they will announce the store closures...I am assuming doors that have been losing money under 20M. Macy' s is not good with small stores. Then the restructure. Somebody in corporate had eluded to somebody I know about the cuts that are coming to HR in stores. Years ago when they did away with OPS managers in stores, they introduced OPS coordinators which went out the following year with office managers, hra's and scheduling managers and AST was introduced.

How clueless.....everything LP does or doesn't do directly effects the bottom line! If this was a perfect world, you would be correct but it's far from that. I won't bother discussing the external theft but all the internal theft, such as cash theft, free bagging, credit card fraud, merchandise theft.....well, you obviously don't do anything to prevent it. The safety portion of their job is just as important. They are supposed to identify and remedy all hazardous conditions before an incident occurs costing the company money. Just one slip and fall case can easily cost the company for $5k to over $100k but according to you, that doesn't effect the bottom line. Add the fact that they are also responsible for conducting all audits, oversee the compliance with all regulatory statues and company policy and procedures. An ineffective LP department can mean the difference in a store being profitable or on the verge of closure.

Macys baffles me!!! I see stores with all this LP in their buildings and some with none! They don't even contribute to the bottom line yet they are still there. Waste of money if you ask me. So they will be elimating a division... 100 store is what 7-10 districts... 7-10 district staff... Then store management and then associates... Next thing you know they will be selling the real estate to Eddie Lampert Seritgate... Bye bye Macys
