Thread regarding Anadarko Petroleum Corp. layoffs

When is the United Way D--k Race?

Anyone know when the rubber d--k race is? Are former employees welcome? I love united way and want to contribute a tastefully decorated, foot long double dong in honor of the bosses who saved each other and cut good technical staff instead. Crap, I'm not sure if it floats...

I dont work at Anadarko, never have, I would say I'm happy to have never. after reading JMkBIUw-2pqf's comment, I cannot believe he or she would have been let go, simply based on that comment alone. As a retired executive, I know very well how hard if not impossible it is to find or develop an employee with that kind of passion, hell any passion at all.

High caliber, critical thinking people are diamonds in your workforce, if this one was obviously let go, I wonder how many more were?

Heres to you JMkBIUw-2qf and the other diamonds. Don't loose that fire, Kindle it, build ideas in that drive of yours, and you will likely become a superpower greater and stronger than APC could ever fathom!

JMkBIUw-2pqf perfectly said.....

I get so tired of the cliché' phrases "move on" and "it's only business, nothing personal" Those spouting off typical catch phrases obviously have never been through it.

You could equate being severed after years of loyal service to a divorce. Any time you put years and years of your life into something and then it ends, you're bound to deal with the loss for possibly years afterwards. It's all a normal process. Be careful the next time you tell someone to "move on" because you'll suddenly understand when it happens to you.....And it will happen.

Fortunately in the end, these things hurt a company more than the people they cut loose. I do believe that in the end the former employee comes out much better

It's not as easy to simply move on with your life. When you have absolutely devoted yourself to your work, lived and breathed the core values. You can't just walk away saying no harm no foul, this is especially true when you were a part of the Wattenberg asset and you lost your job, your livelihood, you mission, everything so the company could replace you with someone from a previously sold asset, say from Texas! Ringing any bells yet?

So if you don't understand you probably never will, which means your perfect middle management material for APC, but don't get too comfortable, someone's cousins brother will need a job once they sell hiss asset and theyll write you off to make vacancy for him.

Sour grapes aside, many of us carried the torch high and proud, it wasn't just about the money or benefits to us, we were in the trenches to forward an idea, a cause, a mission, we worked towards something larger than ourselves, we had determination and vision to build a better future for our ever evolving industry. Now if only our leaders had the same!

That's the betrayal, and that's what still hurts.
