Finally, a read that tells the real story. Can't believe the board thought this was how to run a business and let it go for so long. http://theconservativeincomeinvestor.com/2016/10/03/cabelas-merger-with-bass-pro-shops-analysis/

Look back at news stories for the past 10 years and see that When the thread started to unravel the focus changed from customer satisfaction at any cost to customer satisfaction, let's be reasonable and satisfy the ones that will make us more money. Talk was or profitability, frugality, and satisfaction was no where to be heard. Those who were in the organization and spoke of customer satisfaction and employee training/morale were put out to pasture as they deal began to unfold.
Hind sight is 20/20. Cabela's 2020 vision is another smoke screen but in hindsight, it worked how management intended...
This is absolutely criminal. Making all the hype about the investor when it was doomed by bad debt and terrible decisions Think of all the people that were affected by these clowns. They should be run out of town including linamen and all the others thieves. Really makes a person angry
Wow. Just wow. And yes now the truth is out on what caused all this. Holy crap those numbers!!
Having been in the trenches at corporate, this article is spot on.
Very poetic
Antitrust violations seem likely. Poetic justice would include the FTC blocking this acquisition, the firing of the exec team for creating this mess and replacing the board for letting it happen.
Thanks for sharing the real story. Great job Tommy and gang. Newspapers need to publish this! Thanks
Wow. They should be tarred and feathered. No wonder they sold out. Total mismanagement and they were going to be the heros. Should get nothing and sent to Cuba
