Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Two people committed suicide after they were laid off from Surmount site.

Have they spoken about it inside the company? I heard from family friends who still work there that two people committed suicide after getting laid off. The management's hand is now covered in blood. Do they care? Or they still say at townhalls halls that most important thing for them is their dividend cheque every month. It is disgusting.

I would think that only the people still at COP would contemplate suicide.....

There was 2 suicides, and other than that - these facts are wrong. Unless you actually know what happened, please dont post on here. People knew these guys personally and they have family too.

I knew both people personally and the only thing correct about the original posting is that two people recently passed away in unfortunate circumstances. Neither had been laid off. Many people are hurting as a result of what happened. Please don't link these incidents to the layoffs.

There was one suicide, but the person was not laid off. Get your facts straight before commenting.

The only way it would come up is if it affected the recordable rate. Because they were no longer employees the company couldn't care less.

Probably not...they will send out an email a month after and bring in the EFAP people for a couple days and say get back to work
