We are being told they are "exploring options". We received a official email yesterday confirming what the media has stated. Our campus will not Give us any information. We have been told "I don't know". The staff received an email allowing them what they can and cannot discuss with us and if approached by students to deny it all.

You are entitled to more than "ummmm, we're working on it," and closed doors, and refusals by company to say anything useful. A day or two waiting for information is one thing, but when they tell you it will be several days, that is unacceptable.
I strongly recommend talking to the office of your elected officials -- reps and senators-- and asking them what to do. Maybe your state rep's office can steer you in the right direction -- they may give you phone numbers and names for govt organizations in your state that oversee higher ed.
Call your state attorney general office, and ask them for help. They hear lots of complaints about a lot of stuff, and may have good advice for you.
You can also call the complaint number for ACICS -- ITT's accreditor -- it is online.
You probably won't even have to identify yourself, to get some initial info, so don't worry about getting into trouble with ITT-Tech and getting them pissed at you.
I have experience with this -- as an adjunct faculty, trying to deal with ITT-Tech -- and I have called my state attorney general, and ACICS. You might get transferred once or twice until you are talking to the right person, but you will be dealing with nice people, who want to be helpful. It feels good to talk to someone, a professional, who actually wants to listen to you!
If you are a current employee of ITT run, don't walk, to find another place of employment. Why do I say this? I saw this tactic once before. A meeting in late 2012 where we were informed all full time staff members would be laid off, then rumors of losing chairs (because some brilliant mind thought that the school would run more effectively with minimal staffing). As chairs we were informed that the rumors were untrue, until the day that we recieved our severance notices informing us that ITT had decided to part ways with us. This, only after several individuals were terminated for trumped up reasons.
You are being deliberately kept in the dark, you will be spoon fed only the slimmest bits of information, and when your severence notices come (and they will) hopefully you will have done what you can to secure new employment. Don't be caught with your pants around your ankles like we were.
The only option they are working on is the golden parachute plan for the executives,
Students - I would start making some noise with your local media and government officials.
What cesspool that ITT tech. I'm glad is over.
The reality is...ITT Tech is done the only question is to when. Will it be immediate or will they survive the short term...but either way you are soon to be unemployed so take appropriate action.
This situation appears to be mirroring last year's collapse of the Corinthian colleges. Unfortunately in that situation little was done to keep the students and employees informed. From the perspective of a long time community college faculty member, we did what we could to help students but the issue was generally decided by students not to continue to pursue their educational goals because the debt forgiveness was only provided for those who made a decision not to continue their current education focused path.
As unsettling as this is, I'd strongly recommend reaching out to your local community college and see if there are opportunities for you to continue your education towards a meaningful career and technical education pathway where there are "high wage/ high demand" opportunities. In other words, pay attention to the job boards (e.g. Dice, etc.), before making a career pathway decision.
We have only been told that they are working on their options
HQ is interested in stock options, not you
I work at an ITT Tech campus and I agree with the people above who said we don't know anymore than the students do!! We were sent a copy of the email that went out to the students. We have been told ITT is exploring their options. We may hear something by Friday. Believe me when I say that those of us who work in the schools care deeply about our students, and I am also concerned about what is going to happen to them. At the same time, I am concerned about all the employees who work here, some of who have been here for a very long time. It is torture to not know what is going to happen!
The employees truly do not know and are doing as much online research as you are. We have only been told that they are working on their options and we will know more Thursday or Friday. Believe us we are just as anxious as you. We are preparing for Sept quarter for current students as normal and finals for those still taking in some states. There is word that the accreditation body visited many campuses yesterday but we cannot confirm this. Word is they are going to others today and maybe even the main offices HQ. At the campus level I can attest that we love our students and do our best to teach everyone to Nth degree to be successful. It is a shame that there may be people doing some bad things in a few locales but it is not that way across the board. The HQ issues do not reflect our dedication to our students at the campus level. I have seen countless students exceed even their own expectations and land jobs that have been their saving grace for themselves and their families. We do not have nursing and only have the three core programs where I have been for many many years. I have seen many of our instructor go beyond to tutor students, offer extra training seminars and so on. We are hoping something happens where we can continue on in some capacity and maybe without the current 'leadership' that has been a drag to us, our company and our shareholders. But please again know .. we are still waiting to see how our lives may be changed as well. We just want to teach...
Can you share the email u got
I'm a graduate of ITT and a former employee of ITT. It was sad to see how the people got the shaft on things because corporate said it was for the best. Corporate hasn't a clue how the campuses look or run their in INDIANA! I was in Webster, TX campus. I'm grateful for a great education and my work experience but not the greed that I saw unfold.
All our information as student is comming from the media. I've called corporate and have been given no time to ask questions. We've been directed back to our campus for info. I'm sorry the employees are going through this as well.
When we have asked about September quarter we have been told that we will receive updates via email. I'm in the nursing program at the canton mi campus. We are all curious how this will pan out without accreditation. "Kept in the dark", are you a instructor at Itt? If so, has anyone stated that they will teach out the current students?
100% agree. NO COMMUNICATION from corporate. Students actually have more communication then we do.
I'm not sure what campus you attend, but I can tell you that the employees at ITT Tech are being kept in the dark as much as you are. When they say "I don't know", they actually don't know. It is extremely unsettling. All we are told is that we are not enrolling new students and that the September start is still going to happen for our current students. We are all in limbo right now. Hopefully, we will all know more by the end of the week.
