Upper management requires managers and supervisors to decrease employee review ratings to eliminate the appearance of pay increase requirements.

The Perfomance Review is a gimmick. I busted my tail for them, always did more than was required, stayed on-call 24/7 learned and taught new skills as often as necessary or I felt was appropriate,k had excellent attendance, a great attitude and the best I ever got was "Meets Expectations" and a 5% raise. I guess you have to go around blowing managers to get an "Exceeds Expectations" there. I'm glad I'm in a totally different industry that gives honest rankings, evaluations and equal opportunities. I'm also glad that it appears to be a rebound on the horizon so my friends who are still working are able to continue but I won't be going back ever again. Yes, the money is good but I expect to make what I did at WFT again within the next 2 years. For now, I'm happy to have a career that isn't going anywhere, a paycheck that covers my expenses and a pension to look forward to at retirement.
There is so much talent that has been lost, so many skilled men and women who deserve more than to just make it. Good luck to you all, but get out if you can.
I got a raise when i was laid off!!
You mean somebody got a raise in the last 3 years?
"Pay increaes"? What the hell are you talking about? Nobody is getting raise no matter how good their performance was.
Just give us back our 401k and I'll be happy.
Reviews are a joke. Every manager I have had waited until the last minute. No feedback all year long. And HR does nothing to help job growth though we here about a fancy plan every few years.
Performance review is a waste of time.
Send me suggestions on what will work the best to give employees feedback.
The group of five may be exceptional when compared to outsiders or to what the standard was a few years ago, but relative to each other only one may be exceptional. Not saying that's he right way to look at it but it was the way the Houstonites explained it.
I would really like to see how the VPs got rated when compared to each other. I don't even want to see names, just the numbers that hot ranked for each category.
If you for example have 5 employees that all are exceptional you can only give an exceptional to 1 of them. Management wants only meet expectations or below. And yes it has been going on for years.
It's been happening for a few years now.
This is true!
