Thread regarding Baker Hughes Inc. layoffs

Are you stupid and still searching for yesteryear? This blog is underlaid with distrust of everything Baker including the blog. Perhaps you believe layoffs are ethical and thus trustworthy?

We are living in a dangerous world if you are HR or manager or whatever don't treat unfairly your people.

Don't trust your boss or coworker? On what basis? The entire of Baker isn't some evil entity, collectively working to screw only you over.

If you want people to be wary of: don't trust HR, or HSE - they're job is to protect the company from YOU, not the other way around.

The exec team's obligation is first and foremost to BHI owners (shareholders). The employees will always come third - behind the shareholders, and the execs themselves.

At the end of the day, there is no such thing as safety in a job. The best you can do is start a business and work for yourself. At least there is a direct correlation between effort and reward, in this case.

Its over. Everyone is hoping for yesteryear. But its over. Baker Hughes went the way of just another unscrupulous corporation years ago. Luring good people into dangerous situations. Just look out for yourself. Never trust your boss or your coworker. They don't trust you.

BHI claims to be a tech leader, but loses so much in the endless reporting to management, it's surprising that they ever bring anything really new to the marketplace, if one could claim that they do. The divisions I witnessed for years seemed to want to achieve, but in the end progress was stalled in an attempt to prop up the German technology segment. I would question whether they were adhering to US export law in some of the underhanded maneuvering that was so obvious. Upper management is horrid.

The cheese has moved, look eleswhere you want a decent career and job security. The oil patch and baker are not a place where you will ever feel comfortable in your career.

Don't be scared, out there are another opportunities. When one door closes another one is going to open. Be strong and positive, have a focus and a clear vision what will be your next step and where do you want to go. Think what you like to do and how you can use your experience, skills and knowledge in another sector or in another company. If you fell like in the middle of nowhere ask for advise from people able to help you. BHI was a great company, but now due to this downturn in Oil Industry out there is not enough business and to keep everybody jobs.

I was hired 5 years ago by BHI from Uni, I have a engineering degree, Msc. degree, and also I am studying for an MBA. I already received my letter and soon I will not have a job in BHI, because there are not job opportunities and I will have to leave. I really liked this company and I was proud to be part of BHI but now it's time to move on to the next level. All the respect for BHI. (This is a very difficult time for everybody but we have to be strong and to help as much is possible each other.)

Hi, Baker is in decline. Its important to be objective and limit emotions. Use your fear energy to find something better while you still can and never become complacent. Corporations (management) today use complacency to their advantage. Corporate America is ill, very ill.
