Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Something up

Corporate execs in stores. Store management in secretive meetings. Morale at all time low. Employees leaving in droves. Now they write up everyone for attendance like it's going out of style. And the scheduling is terrible. Availability sheets mean nothing when they schedule you. They move products around the store as if they were trying to hide it or confuse the customer. And the push for new club cards is out of control. You have to sign a sheet saying you WILL get 25 new club cards per year or face disciplinary action. I'm about to punch the time clock for good there. RIP D--k.

Back in the day? Cabela's was a class act; employees were seen as investments that should be nurtured. This was reciprocated as the worker bees worked hard to make Cabela's live up to the title of "World's Foremost Outfitter." Now? Employees are numbers on a ledger under the heading "Expenses." Product knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm are rewarded with blank looks. Warm bodies are all that's necessary. Long-term employees are stalked until they can be terminated so someone at the bottom of the wage scale can take their place.

This company was a great example of a great company a few years back and better than any company 5 years earlier- That was then and this is now. Cabela's is just another retailer chasing the almighty dollar with execs chasing a golden rainbow parachute at the expense of everyone else. Execs, will you please tell us how big a deal you are all getting and how much shaft the front line will all take for you - Get it over with so the little people can look for a company that cares more than Cabela's. The town of Sidney can end the lingering death you've bestowed on them. Walmart or home depot are looking pretty good comparatively about now for lots of out fitters.

I don't think they need to show that the bank makes money because the banks makes nearly all of cabela's money in the first place. Without the bank, Cabela's isn't doing so hot.

Have to increase those club card sales to show the new buyers the bank makes money.

it has been hard to watch this companies slip from 'stardom' in the business world, to dare I say 'gutter queen" due to the copious levels of mismanagement.

We are losing employees faster than ever. There must be other places to work. This was not the case a few years ago, so maybe a silver lining?

good to see all stores are at an all time low in the morale category. At least we have plenty of product influxing into the stores to make each property more valuable. its funny they expect us to stack stuff to the ceiling i guess.

Unbelievable what will be remembered about Cabela's is not the great company that it was before Tommy and before going public - it will be the sad shape it was left in and how the top execs gave themselves golden parachutes while during the fort. It is so sad.

Don't forget the "FOR SALE" signs on all the out lots around the stores. Hopefully this deal is coming to a head before we lose more good people and have sold off a place for us to park our cars.
