5k layoff now and get a package.

Next round layoff will be "based on performance". And you thought the first 5k were unlucky.

In 2011, my friend 50 years old, 15 years with Cisco, got with 1 year paid, 18 months COBRA.

Now, another friend is on LR, 50+, 15 years with Cisco, about 6 months paid, 5 months COBRA.

Seems the earlier you leave, the better.

However, with exec, the deal is always handsome for them..."Very handsome", said so by some VP I know...

Hopefully it f the next round is based on performance you'll see q lot of execs' heads roll. They deserve it.

The early LRs are the lucky ones in the end. They can grab the currently remaining openings in new areas of technology that are looking for people. The Remains have to do more work with less people, then when they get flushed all the cracks have been sealed tight. Blessed are the Early LRs.

I got laid off in another industry. was like the 8th round. hindsight I wish I was gone in the first round. those 6 months of watching people being escorted were an awful thing to watch.

Cisco has so much money, they don't need to make severance less than it is.
