  1. Frequency of posts on TheLayoff.com Increases

  2. An obvious sign: Executives confirm layoffs are coming.

  3. Executives hint at layoffs using other terms, like "restructuring."

  4. Your company gives you a "non-negotiable" job offer.

  5. A WARN notice has been issued.

  6. Your company's IPO flops.

  7. Your company is hiring too fast.

  8. Your company gets acquired or merges with another.

  9. There's already been a round of layoffs.

  10. Your access to work accounts is denied.

  11. You're invited to a group meeting with the department head, and her personal assistant confirms with you that you'll be there.

  12. Internal job postings get taken down.

  13. The higher-ups take steps to 'improve efficiencies.'

  14. Or they ask a ton of questions about what you do.

  15. Higher-ups start jumping ship.

  16. The discretionary stuff starts to go.

  17. Company bills aren't getting paid.

  18. Conference rooms are booked by HR all day.

  19. There are more tissue boxes than usual.

  20. There are a lot of empty boxes around.

Absolutely, in the last two months he completely changed his demeanor. He hardly smiled and answered evasively when asked how things were going. You could tell something was eating him inside. Brown-nosing went into a frenzy and minions worked tirelessly to stand out weeks prior to the dreaded all-hands call we all knew was coming. The bloodbath didn't disappoint.
