Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Why is the Chevron board so much worse than the other companies boards?

Why is the Chevron board so much worse than the other companies boards? Are there issues at Chevron with their employees or the work environment? I used to think Chevron was a good, respectable company.

@IwRuCua-3hos, Nice try at masquerading as a new poster, butthurt queer steer. Haven't seen you in a while though, fruitcake. It's easy to sling mud and insult people when you are hiding behind a keyboard, huh, Spineless coward? But you claim that you are "BETTER" than them even though you are one and the same? ............. .......Crickets..................

@IwRuCua-3yob ... I'm just chipping in my thought as a new poster.

I haven't gone to other layoff sites for a "vitriolic" comparison, but all indications are that Chevron's site has attracted a troll or two or has a couple of very immature/irate folks with nothing better to do that spew the kind of trash that is being discussed here.

It's best to just starve the trolls by NO acknowledgement of their posts. To bad Layoff.com doesn't have some form of screening capability to reject posts with obvious troll tattle-tells like butt-hurt, dead-wood, queer and steer, etc. embedded in them.

Wouldn't be too surprised if this post energizes one of them to come out of their cave with a response...LOL

@3xzl, Please name a 1 or 2 companies, please. It seems to me that Chevron has the trophy for spewing the most negative comments on this layoff forum.

I have read many of the layoff pages and chevron is nowhere near the worse with the personal attacks, foul language, and spewing of hatred and vitriol. They don't even scratch the surface. The Chevron comments are for the most part Goody-2-shoes compared to some of these pages, with an occasional troll that is obviously not even Chevron, you always get that, which is not a reflection of CVX, only that you guys are easy targets.

I checked out the Baker Hughes layoff page. There are some recent comments on several topics, but Chevron's is definitely the most active. It is also fraught with worse comments than BH's page. I wouldn't compare Chevron to Baker Hughes. Two totally different companies with completely different workforce culture. Nonetheless, the Chevron Layoff page is by far filled with the most vitriol.

Check the Baker Hughes page out if you think this is bad.

The highly paid management types in Chevron (PSG 26+) are not interested in anything else right now but self preservation. They won't spend time and energy on solutions, only work on their own salvation. Their mindset is that they will get around to working on solutions only after they are assured they are not the ones getting cut.

Chevron have laid off some good people. I think how they see i if you are in the company less than 5 years and are on high salary - a definite target irrespective of PMP ranking. Its all to do with money. They dont need good people as with all the projects sloed down they can get the work done by graduates as the work is not important.

I read many of the other boards and many are filled with hatred and vitriol, and bad language, and much more than Chevron. The only thing that stands out with the Chevron threads is that they are more popular and have more posts. Maybe they have had more layoff activity lately by comparison, or like others have posted, these guys like to vent more. Big deal.

Because lot of guys who have been laid off (including me) recently are venting out their frustrations.

I also wonder if the existence of this board spread like wildfire at these other companies. Chevron has a pretty large rumor mill

The PC culture at CVX is oppressive, to say the least. This board is like a pressure release valve from that environment.

Many of the comments you see are not from chevron people. Chevron is still a good company but has dropped in the last 7 years or so. That's why some of the disillusioned folks are venting. Trying to reduce pressure. Chevron will right the ship but there is some pain associated with it.
