How many are actually in their office? Or, should we be counting the ones down in the line at Tim Hortons or across the street shopping?
14% of the Canadian workforce. Which is a nice way to play with the number to make it look smaller. The thing to remember is that Almost all cuts will be out of the Calgary office. Which means 25-30% of the people in Calgary if not more will be severed.
The only real questions now are who gets it and what kind of package they will receive
In the papers over the weekend it had been reported that the layoffs account for 14% of the Canadian workforce.
How many expat, managers and leaders... they are not in high risk. Assume they are 100-150 and the ratio is not 10% or 20%. Its 25%!... (300/(1250-150)). Front line work bees see 1 in 4 let go! Look atound you.. one of your buddy or maybe enemy will let go for sure!
Everyone has a 10% Chance!
It's around 1200 employees in Calgary. There are a large number of contractors as well. But those are bloated numbers for field site contracts ( such as surmont). That are run out of Calgary but don't work there.
Besides layoff notices are about employees. Contractors just get told not to show up anymore. Expect the true number of cuts to be around 25-30% of the full time staff
300 less than yesterday
1250 salaried Calgary staff.
As of the end of June, 2120 employees, 1086 contractors.
Really!
